TP and avios credited to the wrong FF account

So I flew LHR-LAX on BA metal but with AY FF on the booking. I went to First Wing at LHR and showed them my gold card at check-in and security. Not a single time my BA account popped up on the system. My boarding pass (paper and digital one) shows AY number.
To my horror, two days later I saw the points credited to my BA account. I called BA and they said they couldn’t do it. I pushed back as this was their error not mine, and after checking they told me I should receive an email confirming when the reversal is done.
Has anybody had a similar experience? How long does it take for the reversal to take effect? And should I claim missing avios and most importantly TP with AY, or should I wait until the reversal takes place?
