Is it posible that the BA calculator shows 40 TPs for MAD-HEL vs 80 if you got from LHR? (In business)
Surely it should be similar given the flight from Madrid is 4hrs and the one from London just 3hrs.
Unfortunately yes the TP calculator is correct. LHR-HEL is a peculiar oddity in getting 80TP. There’s some historical reason for it -don’t know the reason off the top of my head.
MAN – HEL is also 80.
If you scoot over to LIS then it’s 140 for a flight that’s only 30 minutes longer (but which also passes the 2,000 mile threshold)
But there are just some idiosyncrasies in this.
AY puts in a long haul plane on a couple of the daily rotations and IB does the same on MAD-LHR.
And despite MAN-HEL getting those 80tps it’s flown using an Embraer
