Forums Other Destination advice Train from Milan to Monza over race weekend

Has anyone ever stayed in Milan while the F1 is on and got the train to Monza? There are supposed to be tickets that you can buy online which include the train and hopper bus to the circuit, but the link on the train website doesn’t work. I’m hoping that you can buy them on the day, but I don’t want to find out that this isn’t possible and find the trains being booked in advance etc.

Any help or other tips appreciated!

Try the Trenitalia app. I booked pretty much everything on there during my recent Italian trip even buses.

You are best going to Biassono Lesmo Parco, which is right next to the north west entrance to the circuit so you can just walk in. If you go to Monza you need a shuttle bus, as noted.

The app you want is the Trenord app (the local Lombardy operator). There is a page, in English, on the app – in the news and offers section – with instructions.

The journey is very easy – including to Monza where there are tonnes of shuttle buses. No booking required.

Thanks both. The link I had for the combined tickets was to the Trenord website, but it didn’t work. If no booking is required I’ll just buy in the day I guess.

It’s been a few years but I did exactly this, and pretty sure I just bought the tickets on the day. Train was fine, but hopper bus absolutely rammed.

I went to the Grand Prix a few years ago and just used the machines in the train station in Milan to buy the tickets on the day. We then had to get the tickets validated before we got on the train. I’m not sure if that is still the case but I’d read online beforehand to do this. Once arriving in Monza it was a short walk from the station to join the queue to get into the circuit and then an amazing walk through the park with parts of the old banked circuit with huge trees grown up all around – it was amazingly eerie.
