Forums Payment cards American Express United £350 cashback for sister’s flight

Hello. I want to book a flight on United as a gift for my sister. It would be just her travelling.

If I book this, under her name but using my card, is this against the rules at all? More importantly, would it void the £350 cashback?

The rest of the rules should be fine. UK-US return flight, United Airlines, over £700 GBP, United UK website.

Should be fine as long as it complies with the Ts and Cs of the offer.

Should work but getting pretty close to promo cut off date for comfort.

Thanks both. I can’t see anything in the generic offer T&Cs saying about names. I know Amex get a lot of ticket info from airlines, but there’s nothing clear saying this is disallowed for the £350 cashback.

I’m Aiming to book the flights tomorrow. Sister doesn’t have her own credit card, so the difference in protection for her name vs my name is fine.

Cut-off hopefully shouldn’t be an issue as I’d imagine United should bill the card ASAP.

Some airlines used to say that you must show the credit card used for booking when you check in, but I have never seen it enforced. And in these days of online check in and self service bag drop, I can’t see it being a problem.

I recently noticed that all my e-ticket receipts from BA say this, but never been asked.

I believe airlines which do ask only do so when no 2FA method was used when making the online purchase.

I also noticed that every airline has its own MCC and 3 individual airlines are excluded from Curve cash back (KLM, Hawaiian and Spirit)
