Hello there,
If I have upgraded the Barclays Avios basic card to plus one. Will all the spending in the basic set to nil once the card has been upgraded?
Thanks 🙂
Yes.
Spending towards the Upgrade Voucher is reset to 0 even if you’ve recently received a voucher.
Spend £10k and get a voucher. It’s not one per account/membership year like with Amex but one per card/product year.
Changing cards is a product transfer which resets the clock with Barclaycard.
That’s interesting. I knew that the year reset on a downgrade. Hadn’t thought about it resetting on an upgrade.
I see there is an upgrade offer of 5000 Avios for a £3k / 3 month spend. Not attractive in itself, but a £10k spend over, say, 4 months would get 12000 Avios (instead of the voucher) for a cost of £80.
I’m sure you don’t get the upgrade offer if you upgrade from the Avios card. It’s poorly worded but if you dig into the Ts&Cs the offer is only if you’re coming from another card, not if you’ve had an Avios SUB before, AFAIK.
Ah ok. I see your point. The “offer” is very misleading then!
Yes it will reset, i had to contact customer service about 10 times to have the right info.
I am very close to hit my target, once I receive the voucher (or the points if I decide to change it) I will upgrade. for my monthly spent on that card is worth paying £20 per month but half the target
