Hi all. Hopefully not a daft question;
I know there’s an AMEX link to upgrade from the Gold to Platinum and still take advantage of the 100,000 MR point offer (i.e. https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/benefits/upgrade/platinum/).
My father currently has the Rewards Card (not Gold), but when he clicks on the link above he still gets taken to the upgrade page (perhaps as you would expect), clearly stating “Upgrade from Rewards Card to Platinum Card”.
He seems to think (semi-logically, I suppose), that the text inlink itself is just “upgrade to Platinum” (no mention of specifically from Gold) and it does take him to a page where he can upgrade from, so he thinks he’ll get the 100,000 MR
I told him, however, that even though he clicked through the link and he has the “offer” to upgrade, he’s not doing it from the Gold card (as per the text on the offer) and there’s no mention at all in the card agreement about 100,000 bonus points in the upgrade T&C.
So my questions to this group are:
– Does anyone have any experience of upgrading from Rewards to Platinum with any bonus (I didn’t even know you could do that before today)?
-Is anyone able to check whether, if clicking through the link when holding a Gold card, there’s explicit mention of the MR bonus on the upgrade page or card agreement?
TIA
