If I upgrade to the BAPP card and I’m accepted without being deferred, would the change apply immediately?
I have a big purchase I need to make today and I was wondering if I should upgrade before I do that.
It’s quick but not that quick! Also not everyone is being accepted these days.
I upgraded a couple of weeks ago using the special page on the website https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/benefits/upgrade/ba-premium-plus-credit-card/
The upgrade was approved immediately, and the new card was showing in the app in less than half an hour.
But I was at the start of a new collection year and don’t usually play the upgrade/downgrade game.

It might actually be THAT quick. I called to upgrade, got accepted and BAPP is showing already in my account, insurances are active, so perhaps the earning rate change will be effective immediately.
The companion voucher counter is still showing the £12,000 threshold. Maybe that’ll take some time.
