Hi
I’d like to do the following
x1 Barclays Avios Upgrade Voucher
x2 Return Flights for TWO people
Upgrade one leg of the journey. Ideally the return.
Whenever I try to book this on BA, I get the following:
If I try and book x2 Return Flights, I get the following message
– You don’t have enough BA Barclays Cabin Upgrade Vouchers for the number of passengers selected for a return journey
The only way I can book for x2 people is to book a ONE Way flight. This is doesn’t seem to make sense, as then I’ll need to book a separate flight on a separate booking.
Thanks
That’s how it works. You can use the voucher for 2 people one-way or for 1 person return. I can’t remember if BA will then add the return on to the one-way booking if you call, try the dedicated threads on the Barclays avios card as someone may have done it.
Also the voucher can only be used on a flight departing from the UK, so you’d have to use it outbound for 2 people. It’s all in the Ts and Cs and Rob’s articles from when the card was first introduced.
Thanks. I’ve looked through the article.
It said you could upgrade one leg of a return flight for two.
What I didn’t understand was that meant that one had to book two separate one way flights. I’d rather never do that, and always prefer to have one booking for a return flight. Also, phoning BA will charge a change fee and take me 40mins to get through.
But sounds like that’s the only way?

Says that you can upgrade 2 people on a one-way flight.
As I said, I can’t remember if anyone has actually posted about BA adding on the return, but I imagine it would be possible. There’s nothing intrinsically problematic about having 2 separate bookings though, it means you can mix and match airlines and if there’s an issue with one leg, the other one won’t be affected.
You shouldn’t get charged a fee as what you’re asking for can’t be done online.
