Discuss today's stories:
I am new to using Virgin points and am trying to find out how to check availability online for reward flights from London to Tokyo with ANA as I believe can use Virgin points?
Any tips appreciated.
I’ve never completed a booking, but previously I used the ANA website. They don’t do dynamic pricing (AFAIK) so should be a good guide. Then call up to book.
You need an ANA account.
Important bit of info is that Virgin only has access to ANA awards at T-330 days. By then all premium seats are gone until much nearer the time.
ANA also has different availability for their own members than Star Alliance partners and Virgin. Not absolutely accurate searching there. Best search via United/Aeroplan/Krisflyer, although they throw inaccuracies as well.
Worth bearing in mind too, and I can’t immediately find the thread/comments to hand – but I have seen reports that if your INBOUND ANA to London is delayed/cancelled it can be hard (and stressful) to rearrange as ANA are not bound to the same rebooking laws as ex-UK or EU airlines, so fob you off to Virgin. Someone may come along to provide further information.
