    Am I right?

Y flights at Easter for my dates are currently £1600pp so for the 3 of us, that’s £4800. With my voucher, I’ve paid 45k miles x 2 ( 1 free) so 90k miles plus approx £600. So am I right in thinking I’m getting 4200/90000 = 4.6p per point. If so, that’s excellent. Just a random thought I had.

That is great value, but only when you take into account that ludicrous cash price! Is that to MCO? I’ve just checked BA pricing and Y is currently £2200 pp for the Easter fortnight.

It’s brought home to me once more how fortunate I was to discover HFP in the school years!

Enjoy it because with yesterday’s VS news that’s likely to be one of the last good value redemptions at peak time 😕

MAN MCO Easter 2024. It is outrageous. I’m surprised anyone is paying those prices – perhaps they aren’t.

But even a search on Skyscanner doesnt yield much cheaper on other airlines. Looks to be a minimum of £1100 on Icelandair which is a long trek on a 737.

Madness. Curious to see what the miles price will be post October 30th.

Easter flights to Orlando are always going to be very expensive. Two week travel window, which allows school holiday trips outside the summer heat.

I suppose you should compare it to your limit you would have paid in cash
Even at £2.4K for 3 you paid £650 in taxes plus £900 in points
    That’s still about 2ppp

There’s expensive and there’s eye-watering. We went to Orlando at Easter 2012, 3 of us in economy (it was pre-HFP discovery!), on a BA Holiday, it was under £2k for flights plus car for 2 weeks.

£2200 pp, which is what BA is now asking, will get you to the Caribbean in CW at other times!

Sometimes you have to think laterally to save a bit of cash.

Just helped an old colleague in Scotland find good value flights next Easter (5th April to 19th April), they too had been looking at the eye-watering £2000+ PP for flights.

I’ve got them spending a night in YYZ on the outbound from EDI to MCO. HBO at £515 each.

That’s a great price if they don’t mind the extra hassle of 2 x ESTA and immigration processes. A lot of people will pay the higher prices for an easier journey with children.

I would have added a city break in Toronto to that and made it into a 2 centre holiday, but obviously that wouldn’t suit everyone.

You absolutely can’t have it both ways. If you connect via Dublin and then on a separate ticket United via Charlotte or DC I think, you can get fares for £600pp plus your position to Dublin.

But you’ve got to consider, people are likely travelling with small kids and connecting twice, on separate tickets and maybe even a night in a hotel in Dublin, it’s just not feasible or people aren’t willing to and will pay the very hefty premium. But yes, it’s crazy prices.
