Forums Other Destination advice Vienna airport transfer

Anyone have a recommendation for transfer from Vienna airport. We are using our barclays upgrade vouchers for flights in May so going to do some lounge hopping in terminal 3 first and hopefully enjoy the recently reviewed Vienna lounge on our return. The flight lands at 10.40 so don’t want to try to negotiate trains. We are staying at the indigo on points so any other tips or recommendations would be welcome. We have booked the opera and also St Stephens cathedral. We have 2 full days before an early morning flight on the Sunday. We have booked an airport hotel for the final night so transfer back is less of an issue so happy to use public transfer then. Thanks

We used Uber with no issues on our last trip, they seem to be either Mercs or electric vehicles. The dedicated airport train service is very efficient and comfortable (two-storey trains which seemed very high tech to those of us used to Trans-Pennine wrecks), but you have to get yourself to the main station which isn’t very well located and isn’t much cheaper than Uber if there are two or more of you.

I was a bit disappointed with the VIE lounge. While it’s a nice space, the food was just some limp salad and sloppy pasta, but maybe we were just unlucky that day!

Thanks for this. Maybe breakfast will be better. If uber is straightforward then might just do this.

We normally get the train and it’s very easy and cheap, as long as your avoid the City Airport Train (CAT) (16 mins, €15) and get the S7 line (25 mins, €4), they both depart and arrive to the same stations so to save 9 mins you spend €11 per person.

Otherwise FREENOW or Uber would be your best bet for taxis, they’re very easy to order in Vienna and a trip from the airport to the centre will probably cost about €40, will be about €55 (or €65 at night) for a normal taxi.

It was €34 in a lovely air-conditioned Uber from the Hilton Vienna Plaza to the airport last July. It was about 37 C that week and we couldn’t face public transport!

I’ll be in Hilton Vienna Waterfront this week, which seems very close to the airport..
I’d better check the transportation options for it!
