Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Virgin credit card voucher expiring – extension?

  • 122 posts

Has anyone ever had success in having their voucher extended? Painfully mine is expiring end of march and just doesn’t seem to align with the dates I can travel.

There’s nothing you can do to extend the life of your voucher.
To avoid it going to waste, just redeem it for clubhouse access, something’s better than nothing

Don’t you have to have a certain level of status to do that?

I’m having similar issues, it’s surprisingly difficult to match the vouchers to travel plans. Our last but one is probably going to waste (unless I get an agent who goes with “book by” rather than “fly by”), and the most recent one will probably get used for MAN-ATL instead of flying to GCM on BA via LHR/NAS.

There’s not even a Clubhouse at MAN!

It’s worth trying to book an award flight with the voucher for the route you want but the latest date you can achieve with the expiry. Then just pay the £30 change fee and move the flight to your ideal dates in a few days (just say your plans changed) and hope they don’t notice you used the voucher or try and check the expiry date.

Apparently Virgin are more flexible here or care less vs BA.

There’s a strong rumour it’ll open for the relaunch of the Las Vegas route on June 2nd, which makes me really cross because I’m flying back from LV not out to there. Hopefully it’ll have a soft opening 2 weeks pior but I doubt it.

I am in a similar position. My voucher expires on 20 March, and I have a KLM flight two days later. What are the chances I can use the voucher to get Clubhouse access 2 days after it expires? I am gold if that makes a difference.

To be fair to Virgin though – the voucher was awarded to me by accident (I got 2 instead of 1 😀 ), so it’s not the end of the world..

KLM fly from LHR T4 now. The LHR Clubhouse is T3. Apologies in advance if you meant a different clubhouse.

Ah – it’s been a while since I’ve flown with them. Looks like I’ll just have to let the voucher expire then, unless I hear some success stories from people moving flights booked with a voucher beyond the expiry date.

They’d better get started with building it, then…

Worth a try for £30, if it doesn’t work I’m assuming the cancellation fee is also £30? so will only be down £30

There is only one £30 fee I’m referring to andthat’s if you cancel a rewards flight. There’s no other fee involved bar the usual taxes and fees to book a rewards flight.

If you do try this route can you keep us updated as to if it works or not?
