I flew back from North America that day in a BA A380. We were slower than the Virgin flight, but tracked at 768mph so also slightly faster than the speed of sound in still air.
The flight was incredibly turbulent due to the jet stream. Normally that doesn’t bother me, but I was trying to drink red wine, and most of it landed on the tablecloth…a very inconvenient first world problem!
Flew back from JFK yesterday and we did it in 5.50. it was pretty smooth for most of the flight too. Glad I didn’t take the paid upgrade to Upper this time as there was little time for a nap!
Looking on flight radar, the fastest we’re on Monday – one virgin flight did it in 5.28!
