Noticed Virgin have increased the number of miles needed to book KLM flights. A couple of data points below
Bristol – Frankfurt was 4k miles now it’s 8k.
Warsaw – Manchester in business was 26k now it’s 35k. I tried to book this flight the other day and kept getting an error, annoying it’s now gone up.
Bristol – Amsterdam was 4k miles and it’s unchanged which makes me wonder if the increases could be related to connecting flights.
Nothing has changed according to the chart on the Virgin website.
Rewards have always been priced by segment haven’t they?
Maybe they have fixed something, I checked some previous bookings and I was definitely paying 4k for Bristol – Frankfurt and now it’s 8k.
I did think 4k was a bit of a bargain although I’ve found KLM to be a very unreliable airline.
Something has definitely changed; I got DUB-AMS-MAN in J for 8k+tax late last year and the same is now showing at 16k, with 8k being the economy fare. I think it may have moved to being segment based. A shame as it’s now not really any different to using Avios for short-haul.
I have noticed it too. Checked for dates in June: Bristol to Cracow and, it used to be 7.500 one way, where at KLM website 10.000 one way. Now, it seems to be more at Virgin website (11.500-13.000) than KLM (10.000) in Eco.
Yes me too – I think they have now moved to per segment pricing whereas before it was solely distance based. I previously booked EDI-AMS-LUX for 4k, and that’s now doubled.
Very strange, as some have definitely been increased. However, NCL-OSL/CPH, as an example, remains at Y=4K, J=8K. Also, worth noting that with some EU destinations, it costs more £ and points on KL than it does on AF.
That’s annoying. LHR-CDG-MUC on AF is coming up at 8k in C, but LCY-AMS-MUC on KL is 16k (previously it was 8k).
Not checked for a while but looking today the awards are back to their previous values. I can get Bristol – Frankfurt for 4k in miles.

Checked Glasgow to various in July with KLM, 8500 economy and 18000 business.
I find that KLM redemptions have increased but AF remain the same. Funny because we find AF so much better than putting up with KLM Chateau Amsterdam shite J quality!
How do you check the points prices for partner airlines? I always get errors if I try to find award flghts on routes Virgin themselves don’t fly.

Ive found this too. I usually figure out which partner I want to check redemption rates on (was looking at LATAM… Spoiler, bad deal with VS points!) I google ‘redeem virgin points on [airline name]’ and click redeem on the page. There is a page of all VS redemption partners on the VS site that you cam click through, but I find that way never works.
