Virgin Shanghai where are the hotels?

Flights have returned to Shanghai but not the hotels As far as I can tell and booking flight hotel is returning no availability. Was planning for end of May to gain the tier points etc booking flight hotel with VA but can only book flight. Anyone know if hotels can be booked, thanks!

I can see hotels available on Agoda. I use them all over Asia. Ive done this route before. Not much to do in Shanghai.

Thanks I realise I can book a hotel via any other site, I was rather referring to “You earn Tier Points when you book a holiday with Virgin Holidays and with Virgin Atlantic Flight + Hotel. Tier Points are earned based on the total cost of your holiday. The more you spend, the more Tier Points you earn. All elements of your trip spend will qualify towards tier point earn (excluding cancellation fees).”

So rather than just book the flight and a hotel I was considering booking the flight + hotel to gain the tier points, as I would be going there for work purposes.

But whilst I can book the flight only with Virgin for this time frame, I can’t with virgin holidays nor can I book just a hotel with them. I haven’t tried speaking to them but wondered if anyone had, had similar experience.

@avythos hope you get this resolved and don’t take any notice of anyone saying there isn’t much to do in Shanghai which is an extraordinary city with much more to offer than Hong Kong. Also, from there it’s very quick to get to Suzhou, a fantastic day (or more trip) and also to Nanjing, one of the most interesting and attractive cities in China. If you do go anywhere on a fast train, it’s absolutely essential to book well in advance.

Maybe due to Shanghai route only been added back recently. Shame HK not came back.

Good advice.. travel around. I wouldn’t travel back to China. Government restrictions on many things inc google searches. Air Asia offer cheap flights down to Bangkok & offer business class with a bed.

Thanks all. I’ll give them a ring and see if there is anything virgin can do over the phone. I am aiming to get to silver status for the family pooling benefit.I was hoping I could boost my tier points by at least another 80 just from the 20 for £500 spend.

An update. I did try phoning them, and they are not offering hotels in Shanghai or holidays. So flight only disappointingly..
