You make it sound so easy!
There’s also the small matter of never having already had a virgin status match, so that’s worth checking first before booking any flights!A little Bronze to Silver match many years ago has scuppered me!
We live very close to Glasgow airport, which doesn’t seem to have any connectivity to Virgin Atlantic flight network from what I can see, otherwise I might be interested.
Are others in Scotland making use of Virgin Atlantic and, if so, how?
I think they might have an Edinburgh-Orlando flight, but not really interested in North America. We primarily travel east.
If you did some dummy bookings you’d see that VS offer conenctions via LHR on BA. All on same ticket so bags get checked through etc
Also consider AF and KLM from the regions for flying east and south using status from VS.
Much easier than T5-T3 transfers

I had tried dummy bookings earlier to places we like to go or might want to go (e.g., Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.), but it says nothing available for those searches even if I select flexible dates option. Am I missing something to get the BA connections (or any connection options for that matter)?

Yes, if I can find a Virgin flight to meet the conditions of the match, this would probably be the main interest and best use for us; we used to primarily use KLM prior to the pandemic because we did find the transfers easier and KLM serve Glasgow.
DP – match confirmed in less than 12 hours.
Welcome, newcomers, to the dark side! We have top notch lounges, consistent crew experience and better snacks!
Had a status match pre covid so cant take advantage of this also!
I’ve searched and couldn’t find an answer…grateful for assistance….I’ll be taking my Virgin flight in April 12th, returning may 21st….will Virgin status match me if I get my Bronze status after taking the Virgin flights?
Does the Virgin status last for your current virgin year plus the following?
@Ash, not for the promotion that ends tomorrow because you need to provide proof of your BA status when requesting the match with a pic of your BAEC card. They will probably go back to their usual matches after this.
If we were to book a reward flight, then at T-72 hours get the status match, then at T-48 hours cancel or move the reward flight… do you think we’d loose the status match?
So it doesn’t seem the status match and new status is done on a rolling basis- I see that I got the status match today – 72 hrs before my flight but instead of it being valid for the entire year till let’s say 20 Feb 2025, it says to retain gold status I need to earn 1000 tier points by January 31, 2025.
Is that an error ?
Can anyone else comment.
