I dont have the status elsewhere – is there any way to still get the perks?
Just signed up for Virgin Voyages via the 80,000 points.
How can i get the Deep Blue Sea Extras?https://www.virginvoyages.com/sailing-club
This gives you the info about what you can status match to , to get Sea Rover status on Virgin Voyages, which gets you the Deep Blue Extras
Okay I don’t have a status elsewhere – is there a way to still get the perks?
Evening all. Managed to snag 2 vouchers and looking to use for 4 passengers on cruise from Athens on 20/8. Would it be best making 2 seperate bookings to take advantage of the referrals?

As far as I know, It’s either being a genuine frequent voyager with Virgin, or doing a status match from one of the schemes on the list on their website.

Yes if you want a free bottle of Cava per cabin.
Are these cruises still available? Can’t see them as a redemption offer on the loyalty website? Thanks
Has the deal expired?
Looks like it has been pulled. Keep checking though because they randomly come back
Yep, Rob mentioned that Virgin Red were likely to pull it at the end of June
Virgin Red USA had it running for a few months prior to Virgin Red UK (but it was 100,000 points) so worth keeping an eye on there too.
@Rob – please keep us posted if you hear anything from Virgin Red, would love to go for a third time! Can the access code to be redeemed for a cabin in someone else’s name?

My cousin failed to use my link to book so spoke to VV today to see if they would link the 2 bookings for the free Cava but the agent said it’s not available on access key bookings 🙁
Do Virgin give any onboard spend on bookings made with points?

No they don’t

Not of itself but if you buy a bar tab they give you $50 bonus for each $300 tab. If you qualify for the “Deep blue extras” that bonus goes up to $100 for every $300. On top of that, they give you another free $100 bar tab for being part of the programme. We were lucky enough to win an upgrade to a brilliant suite and that seemed to generate another $100! All in all $600 for a $300 purchase! We are onboard now and the whole experience is fantastic.

I linked my booking by email chat. Try again that way.

How did you go about getting the extra 100 rather than 50 for the bar tab? My app only shows 50 bonus and when I phoned to ask about this they said no, I was only entitled to 50 extra, despite the DBE I have.
For those who did the status match with MSC, how long did it take for Virgin to confirm?

The app just showed bar tab plus bonus but once onboard it became $100. With the free champers during Richards Rooftop happy hour we can’t get through the bar tab and bonuses fast enough!

Thanks. I’ve just come off their med cruise (which I loved) but it was on a paid booking, so was just wondering how the onboard tabs differed.
Out of interest, how much did you have to pay to ‘win’ the upgrade? I offered to pay the minimum amount that you could, on a number of suites (I was only in Sea Terrace) and wasn’t successful with any of them! Just wondering for next time….and there will be a next time 🙂
The minimum bid was $1800 so I bid $1830 just to lift it “off the floor.” Put slightly higher margins on the other suites, but that was the one that won. Not a bad deal for a suite that was selling for over $10K, even taking the base points into account. This is our 19th cruise, but first with VV. we’ve been very impressed with the crew, food, ship and pretty much the whole experience. For 80K points it’s a steal!
VV for Beginners??
Hi – I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to share a few hints and tips for VV Virgins like myself. I’m travelling on Greek Island Glow on 20/8 and it’s my first cruise so I feel like I don’t have a clue how to prep (as a frequent flier this just feels wrong to me!!). I have done the status match to get Deep Blue Extras and have linked booking for the free fizz but I now have a few questions re how to make the best of the trip…
1- Restaurant, entertainment bookings open tomorrow – is it advisable to prebook much or can you play it by ear nearer the time (when you know what your days will look like). Are there things that are particularly busy that it’s best to get in early on?
2 – day trips – I’m a pretty independent traveler so would likely prefer to just do my own thing during the day – how viable is this?
3 – embarkation – is there a benefit from getting there early and onboard to spend the day chilling in Athens? And is the DBE queue just a kind of fast track?
4 – upgrades – interesting but still punchy considering the cruise was so cheap! – any experience of these appreciated – e.g. do people just bid base level and how successful is this? I’m also wondering about just waiting until on the day and asking at check in?
5 – Richards Rooftop – is it any good? Have seen mixed reviews tbh
6 – prep – anything else it’s good to do up front? Thanks so much guys – super excited about this!
1 – Book restaurants as soon as you can but treat them as backup plans which you can ditch later if you choose to walk-in elsewhere. The Wake will book up, so just sling in a booking.
2 – doing your own thing totally viable and if you prefer you can arrange most of the shore activities for yourself independently. I only paid for 1 last year, this year I’ll probably do 0 and have arranged 1 or 2 things independently. Can be fun to also get your own car/atv/moped when you get to a port.
3 – getting on board early is very useful as you can’t book shows or fitness classes until on the ship wifi. I didn’t realise this last year and got on as late as possible … all the classes had booked up.
4 & 5 – I will die before I pay such sums to upgrade a free booking when the standard rooms are so good anyway, so can’t advise here.
6 – write up a brief plan of arrival/departure times to figure out roughly where you want to be and assist booking shows and restaurants. Keep in mind sunset times and whether you want to catch the sunset on shore, on deck, or in a panoramic restaurant like gumbae.
If travelling solo, absolutely go to the solo traveller events.
Pick a karaoke song in advance.
Talk to the crew and ask about secret parties.
Don’t be late back to the ship.

Can I ask how long it took for the status match to be confirmed? I applied last Friday but have heard nothing back
