    Booked with Touchdown today

    ADRIATIC SEA & GREEK Gems – June 16th – 7 nights

    Sea Terrace room

£1168.00 (payable direct to Virgin Voyages)+ £89.00 (payable to Touchdown)

They put your details into Virgin Voyages and you get an email where you can log into and make payment. Need to make payment within 24 hours

It has automatically linked to my Virgin Voyages status account, so showing up as 100 USD bar tab and the usual status benefits

We went for it as wasn’t sure if they’ll be bringing back the Virgin Points offer this year

Yes, that’s the range of discount my friends got on Touchdown, well under half normal price to regular customers. It seems a smart strategy on a couple of fronts ? VV likely have excess inventory so this clears some of it. They also know they have a great product which touchdown travel/airline insiders will appreciate and spread the word on how good it is.

I’m still hoping they have enough excess to offer the points again. I’d guess they get a good take up of follow-up revenue bookings via MNVV or other offers to convert points buyers to revenue passengers in the future. They likely have a lot of data on that now too, so might target it to groups more likely to convert ?

IF you are in the travel trade, are retired from (many jobs) in the travel trade or have a relative in (most jobs) in the travel trade then sign up for Interline Rates at VacationsToGo.

They are an American company but have a UK phone number if you need to speak with them (they only take payment by phone). I have found them to be excellent.

In many instances VTG are better than Touchdown – and unlike Touchdown who hold your funds in a client account, VTG send it straight to the cruise line.

The benefit here is many options (like dining reservations) are only available after final payment – so if VTG send that money faster than Touchdown, you will have better access to onboard bookings.

Anyone managed to sign up with VacationsToGo and get interline rates for working within travel industry but not airline crew?

For anyone who has ended a cruise in Miami. What did you do after being kicked off the boat? Either fly home that afternoon / evening? If so how did you spend you day, what did you do with your luggage? Or did you stay overnight to fly home the next day?
    Thanks in advance

There is a bus company by the dock that takes you on an open top bus tour of the city and surrounding area and then drops you at the airport later. I can’t remember the name of the company but they were easy to spot.

You can book a Day Room in a hotel with pool etc http://www.dayrooms.com

They usually offer 6hr blocks but some will offer longer.

There are several Day Tour operators (viator.com) who can take your luggage too and they drop off at the airport.

You can get the Hop-On Hop-Off tour buses but check in advance they accept luggage – you can do 1 or 2 of those routes and easily occupy 2-3 hours.

I’ve recently done a status match to VV, who gave me Blue perks, is there any advantage of us both status matching or is one enough.

Seems like they no longer give Deep Blue Perks as status match.

To confirm its for use on a cash not points cruise. Thanks

We both matched.. we both got the $100 and we both got the free coffees however we only got one bag of laundry.

We did match to DBE before Xmas.

Yep, looks like offer changed last month. $10pn of coffee is better than nothing I suppose.

    Thanks

Looks like we have been assigned deck 14 on out Barcelona to Miami trip. It seems that I would be better asking to be moved a bit lower down the ship. We have a Central Sea Terrace, where would you pick to move it too? Thanks in advance

Is there a way to pay the Bar Tap in USD instead of GBP? Virgin’s conversion is weak.

I am booked in the Aegean cruise departing on 14th July if anybody else is also booked. It will be the first time for us and We are keen to book the restaurants, at what time do they open for bookings on the first day?

We have also bid for an upgrade at the lower end of the range, do they leave to the last minute to tell if you have been successful? Part of the attraction was to book the restaurants ahead of everyone else, if they leave to last minute it becomes less valuable for us.

Any tips for booking other things like spa….

You should book the restaurants as soon as the bookings open on the app – 45 days before launch. Most of the good time slots are gone within 24h!

However, many slots will only be made available on board, so there is another chance if you can’t get your perfect booking 45 days before launch.

I highly recommend Reddit where these things are discussed in much more detail than here on HfP.
