For those interested VV are doing a few specials over the next week . Not quite in the league of the bargain 9 day voyage they overbooked ( and shifted those of us willing onto the 11 nighter ), and free bar tabs are a thing of the past but I’m more than happy with the sailing I booked yesterday.
Not seen any access key codes this year (like the tripadvisor VIRGINVV code last year) – anyone seen any? Thanks
@Dragonlady, which did you book? I considered the Iceland ones but don’t really want to visit Lerwick or Amsterdam lol
Agree, nothing quite the same as the 9 night deal, still enjoying using my handbags I bought with all the loot 😂Good catch! Nothing quite tickles my fancy there. We managed to pay £1524 for “Adriatic Sea & Greek Gems” last year (and 80,000 points for a Med cruise the year before). Very fortunate
@Tracy The Reykjavik to Portsmouth (total of £890 each for limited view terrace ) for 11 nights 👍 . £94 with SAS ( including bags) to Reykiviak via Oslo overnight ( so Munch museum ticked ). I’ve been really keen to go to both Iceland and Shetland so this was a no brainer. We were warned on the moved cruise that there would be no more bargains and bar tabs were going to disappear ( boo! ) .
@Executiveclubber the 80,000 points deals are akin to the 3V days ( long gone and never to be repeated 🤣🤣). Now they are 380,0000 points plus for the ones offered.@Dragonlady Iceland is one of my favourite countries having been twice and I’m visiting again next year on a cruise that coincides with the solar eclipse next year, and also ticks off the Faroe Islands for me. I will be going to Shetland this summer for a few days (although wether it’s summer there is another matter).
@Dragonlady £890 is a very good price for that….best I could get was £826pp inside cabin…..still considering it lol
@Dragonlady any word of any of the 7 night cruises coming on offer for cruises this summer like they have done last year? 180k points for cruises in May last year was still a good deal.

No- I think it’s unlikely we’ll ever see that level of points redemption again (never mind the ones that were only 80,000). The ones they’re offering now all seem to be 380,000. We were told on the October voyage that the good deals ( including bar tabs loot etc etc ) were over as they were simply losing too much money .

@Tracy. Cruise Nation (that price included the tip off £50 booking fee as you couldn’t book it online ). Even with the additional fee it was still £100 less than VV directly .Really annoyingly, we booked Portsmouth to Iceland last Tues (lock-it-in Terrace) for ~£3k, then saw the price had gone down by ~£900 when they announced their offer!!! Grrrrrrr.
@dmm27 I nearly booked my itinerary a few weeks ago but was waiting for some friends who were thinking about coming too. They dithered and dithered , yes then no by which time the price had gone down to what I paid . I know you can’t rebook with the lock it in but I’m sure you’ll have a great time regardless.
All the cruises have been removed from the Virgin Red app – is this a prelude to seven day cruises becoming available for points?? Hoping so!
One thing I’ve noticed with checking the virgin cruises this year is that as prices have gone up this year, more people are buying insider cabins, they are selling out sometimes before the sea terrace. Makes it more expensive to book last minute (as I prefer to do) as only the more expensive cabins are left 🙁
So if you’ve 600,000 + points to burn they’re back as redemptions ( or 305,000 for the 4 night chug from Miami to Bimini flights not included…). Not sure they’ll have many takers this time around 😳

Dynamic pricing moves to VV, without the Savers! Crazy…

Wow some of these redemption values are crazy
Totally bonkers . Welcome to VV dynamic pricing… 😳😳 We watched Brilliant Lady zig zag the Malaga coastline a few weeks ago ( and she looks tremendous) . I’ve said this before .. I can see VV folding in the very near future ( hopefully not before my next Voyage which is yet another cash fare ). Sadly the VV market is US driven….
305k VS for any cruise in Central Sea Terrace atm.
Should be able to get good value especially on an Alaska cruise.
It’s 305k for short sailings and then goes up to over a million points. Virgin with the dynamic pricing with Virgin Atlantic and now Virgin Voyages are making their loyalty scheme almost pointless.
Ah.
I don’t currently have 305k points so it doesn’t show me dynamic pricing…
Just the headline rate.

Miami to Bimini 4 day chug as I’d reported up thread 🙂
You should be able to view the available sailings and the points required for each on this page.
