Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Voucher newbie!

  • Indy500 146 posts

I’m just about to earn my first ‘upgrade’ voucher on the basic card. When I get that, I’ll switch to the Plus card to get a 2nd voucher with a 10k spend. We are planning to use them for a trip in early ’25. I’m making the following assumptions. I can use both vouchers on one booking for myself and OH for 2 long haul returns [points for WT+ and voucher to get Club] and that both vouchers can be earned on my account ie be in my name?
    Thanks
    Indy

Yes that is correct. The vouchers can be used for anyone (unlike Amex)

The only thing is at the moment you can’t use 2 x vouchers online, it doesn’t let you select them. They can do it over the phone though or just make 2 x bookings

Also note you can only redeem them for max points/ minimum cash

A lot of people keep saying this, not my experience at all, have happily managed to use two vouchers, both in my name, on a return journey for a couple, upgrading both legs, all done online (using a mobile phone browser if that makes a difference with BA’s IT).

Thanks, when the time comes, I’ll try that first.

nothing surprises me with BA IT! The agent I spoke with was aware of the issue so must be quite a widespread problem. Will try mobile next time too

I can absolutely believe this now, I’ve just been able to cancel an avios booking by logging in on my phone when my laptop was telling me I couldn’t amend or cancel online! There’s probably a whole new world of possibilities if you can navigate a tiny screen 🤣

How much extra work is the crappy IT causing BA’s call centres?!!

Just as a data point – I successfully used two upgrade vouchers in a single transaction to book two return flights to Paris on Monday of this week. It’s the first time this has actually worked and in the last I had the same issue as others. This was on an Apple M2 MacBook (I did think the issue could have been related to browser compatibility).

So what if I earn a voucher on my card, OH earns one on her card, we’re both on the same household account so should I assume we can use both vouchers on the same trip with me as the lead booker?

Thank you & can’t believe I missed this DP. Excellent news!

Would be good to know if anyone successfully got refunded the difference in Avios by booking inbound online at full Avios T-355, and subsequently Chat/Twitter to link the inbound with outbound booking that contains the 2 Barclays vouchers?

Singles can only be booked ex uk using the Barclays voucher, so no.

Is it possible to book one leg in premium economy and the return leg in business?

Not online. Unsure if possible via call.
