I’m currently BA Gold and will be til April 2026, but fly VS/DL in Premium to the US a few times a year.
Should I do the VS Gold match given it makes the most sense, or take the Platinum now given it’s less likely to be available in a year and do the VS Gold match in a year?
Or just go for what makes sense now with VS Gold and worry about it in a year?
The good thing about the Virgin status match is that it only kicks in 72 hours before your next Virgin flight (a booked VS flight is a prerequisite). So you can do the match now even if your flight is way into the future.
FB Plat. Customer service is night and day vs. Virgin or IAG. Fly consistently for Plat Ulti and they get even more flexible. It’s sad to say but the dribble served in the Concorde Room is a joke compared to what is served in the AF business salons ex-CDG. And AF premium product is not (yet) disturbed by the free upgrade circus.
Apart from the fact the FB status match costs £99 and the Virgin one is free, the FB Platinum doesn’t give you free seat selection on Virgin where there would otherwise be a charge. Virgin Gold also gives you access to Revivals at LHR, which FB Plat doesn’t. And FB Platinum requires a Premium ticket to get access to the Clubhouse at LHR.
Really depends what metal you fly the most on.
Virgin I love for the club house and in flight the crew is amazing with consistent recognition.
AFKLM is maybe better if you fly with them a lot. Both the Gold Line and PSL line do amazing work most of the time.
