Hi All
I’ve just received a supplementary card on my OH’s BAPP. Do I add it to my AmEx account that currently has my Gold card on it, or onto his Amex account. I’m a bit confused as I have read on here that a supplementary account is owned by the primary card holder, however if it’s added to his account I’m not sure how I will be able to track my spend?
Add it to your account, you’ll only see the transactions you make and won’t be able to make payments.

Thank you so much. My OH said I should add it to his account, but I wasn’t sure if that was correct. Presumably he will be able to see both his and my transactions, but I will only be able to see mine.
adding to your OHs account is fine; payments on each card are itemised and totalled separately

Thanks CHasP, so we should really add it to both accounts them ?
No, just add it to yours. Your transactions show up in the main cardholders account regardless.

Cheers Steve, know idea why I am finding this so confusing. Going to add it now.
Main cardholder can see all transactions and can filter by supplementary cardholder, supplementary cardholder can only see their own transactions. I’m a pro at this, I have five supps on my Platinum card, wife, 3 kids and son-in-law.
adding to your OHs account is fine; …
This is incorrect information. If person X gets an additional card, as a supplementary card to the main cardholder’s, then that card can only be added to person X’s Amex account.
The main cardholder obviously has full visibility of all transactions made on that additional card, but there isn’t any way they can ‘add’ a card in someone else’s name to their own Amex account.
I see many threads on these forums where someone asks a question that has a really simple answer and people give confusing/contradictory/incorrect answers, probably because they haven’t taken the time to fully read the question.
@strickers 5 sups very much a pro 🙂
@scott. Thanks for confirming, I’ve put it on mine. My head hurts 🙂
