Is there anyway of seeing what fare class your booking for a BA holiday which is using Qatar metal before you book?
I want to see if they are booking me into business light or one which will get me access to the lounge or not.
Pretty sure BA Holidays will NOT book you into business Light. Should qualify for lounge access
BA will book you into the cheapest fare bucket available and price the holiday correspondingly. They will tell you what is included in the package price. The ‘lite’ fares that excluded QR’s own premium lounge access do allow you to buy lounge access separately.
If it helps, we’re booked on a BA Holiday later this year flying EDI-DOH in QR Business Class then DOH-AUH in QR “First” Class.
On Manage My Booking, our fare classes show I class for the both EDI flights and A class for both AUH flights.
From the QR website, I class appears to be “Business Comfort” which includes seat selection and lounge access. We’re both BA Gold so were able to choose our seats at time of booking, although had to do it through the QR (not BA) app.
I think LittleNick is correct – you will have lounge access assuming you’re on BA codeshares. It might be different if you’re on a QR code – I don’t know if BA Holidays sell any of those though.
Can’t comment on their interface with QR which may or may not be different, but BA Holidays certainly sell packages using AA flight codes alongside BA codeshares. Sometimes with significant price differences either way. Only visible if you delve in to custom itineraries.
We have a BA Holiday to Hong Kong next month with Qatar.
Can confirm that the booking class is Business Classic / Class R, which includes lounge access but no free seat selection (so the closest match to BAs business class).
BA holidays will use all fare classes available and price accordingly… example lowest prices in economy would be G however previous holidays I have booked have been in N,M,Q
In Jan I booked bkk holiday on qr metal BA flight numbers was I going out and R coming back
Don’t forget that you can book it, which once done and reference issued will enable you to got into MMB where you’ll be able to see the fare class for each flight. If the websites booked you into lite then you can just cancel the booking and call BAH, or call them without cancelling. Explain you want them to book you into XYZ fare Code and why & ask them to canx if need be & reprice the package appropriately.
You can cancel any package fee free within 24 hours and you would be exempt from the call centre booking charge as you are unable to manipulate or change fare buckets yourself on the website. You might need to provide that explanation if they don’t pick up on the valid reason you’re not liable to pay it.
All that is technically possible, but most would view it as risking a world of unnecessary pain. Booking something that you may not want, then having to call to try and change it to something else without having any accurate idea of what it might cost or therefore whether you actually want that higher priced option anyway.
Get lucky with a good agent and it might work, get unlucky with a bad agent and you’re just wasting a whole load of time. If the only concern is lounge access as per the OP, it’s really not worth the effort as lounges are always available via other routes anyway.
