Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Which lounge in Heathrow Terminal 5?

  • Mayfield 24 posts

Travelling Club Europe at the weekend and I assume I’ll have access to a number of lounges prior to departure. (I may be wrong)

If I do have a choice, looking for some advice on which you’d choose please.

    Thanks in advance!

Why not have a look at the threads and recent comments that are already there?

If the categories on the site aren’t working for you then try google “site: headforpoints.com lounge Heathrow” or could insert lounges or LHR instead etc., into your search

If its short haul it will be 5A and so you only have two options (Galleries South and North) which are much of a muchness. Arguably Plaza Premium is quieter and more civilised if you have Amex Plat.

Some short hauls go from 5B. If you have time you can go to 5B anyway, you can take the train there but you must walk back (if you take the train your trip will be ruined).

Well if you realise quick enough having got on the train you could get get off at 5C and walk all the way back?

It’s not as simple as that. Plus it’s a long walk back to 5A.

If someone is unfamiliar with T5 it’s best to remain in 5A unless specifically told your flight departs from B or C.

    Hello,

Hope it is okay to resurrect this thread as heading out in a couple day via LHR T5. Both domestic flight arriving into and long-haul flight departing from T5.

    1. Am I correct thinking that no additional security check when connection within T5 (as opposed to T5-T3 for example which I used to do)?

    2. Looking at flightaware, only 2/13 flights departs A while most departs from B or C. Is B and C close-by?

I am not sure but assuming domestic flight will arrive into A mostly. I know it is a bit of a walk from A to B/C. Our connection time 2hrs 5mins on the paper which is not a lot with little one on tow but just hoping we will have enough time to prepare little one for bed before boarding time.

    Many thanks.

@Vit – yes, your domestic flight will arrive at the domestic A gates (or if not, you will be bussed there). There is no additional security and no exit immigration. Your long haul flight will most likely depart from B/C unless the aircraft is on a remote stand when it will depart from the A10 bus gate.

You mentioned the walk which probably is quite long with a small child? but the train is reasonably quick even if you just miss one. Particularly with a child, lifts down to the train are probably a whole lot easier than the long steep escalators with people juggling too much hand luggage.

@JDB thanks very much as always. 🙂 We don’t normally connecting through LHR hence the inexperienced. I am also aware there is no shower facility in 5B lounge as well. So we will need use one of the lounges in A and make our way to B/C assuming flight will likely to depart from there. If we have more time which I don’t think we will, we will stop by 5B lounge as there is a kid’s corner from my experience last year.

There are showers in the T5B lounge, so I’d go straight there if the monitors are showing a B/C gate departure.

My DW and son did 5B at the weekend (5pm Friday) – quiet and they really liked it (they took the walk there but there are travelators most of the way). The “busy indicators” (at the airport and online) were woefully inaccurate. The walk back to 5A can’t be more than 10 mins
