Withdrawing cash in Dubai

I’ll be in Dubai for 2 nights, will I need to take cash with me or will I be able to withdraw Dirham at the airport (curve)? Will I need it for taxi or tips? First time to Dubai so I have no idea…

Uber and Careem are ubiquitous so no need for tips for taxis. Restaurants all allow you to add a tip to card machines when paying. Hotel bellhops may be something you want petty cash for. Fees for cash withdrawals at DXB are a nonsense, so best avoided. As are the local banks’ ATMs. Citi have ATMs in all the big malls and don’t charge a fee at all IIRC.

Everyone takes card including the DTC / Hala cabs.

I used curve a few months ago in Dubai but they were charging mad fees (like £20 for taking out £200, eventually found one that did not charge (can’t remember the bank name unfortunately. I only took out cash for tips as used my card for everything else

Thanks guys, I’ll be ordering some usd anyway so will just add on a few dirham and take them with me just in case….I will primarily use curve or chase…
