Trying to get to the Seychelles towards the end of the year in business.

Qatar flights (via Doha) are pricing at around 2.5k each. X 2 = £5k

Reward flights are around 450,000 Avios + £1.1k. Valuing Avios at 1p at £5.5k

Using a companion voucher, means the booking will need to be split in 2, companion voucher LHR-Doha and then a separate Avios booking from Doha to SEZ on Qatar. So will have to go airside to collect luggage and check in again. Not keen, but for comparison would be 330,000 Avios + £1.1k, so £4.4k.

We have over 1m Avios and will probably earn another 300k before the end of the year, so relatively Avios rich.

I wouldn’t do the separate ticket thing.. too much angst about missing connections unless a day prior each way etc…

I deffo would use avios and not cash given the number of avios you have and a penny an avios is fair.

That means the first option…450k avios plus fees.

Qatar business class Avios flights London to Seychelles via Doha would be 130k avios plus approx £600 fees/taxes pp if you can find availability for dates that work for you where they not charging 2x Avios – seem to be some odd days eg out 13 November return 22 November. That would be without using a companion voucher, and you’d be checked through with a stop in Doha.

Sounds far more sensible. Thank you.

SO qatar+qatar options are not showing, as presumably BA feels there are enough BA flights to Doha to show, without having to also show options to book totally on QR through the BA site.

Book via QR site and transfer the avios while you know there is availability

The example dates I found last night on Qatar site (13-22Nov) do seem to be showing on BA site as well this evening – appreciate these might not be dates or stay durations you are looking for, but if you find something that works for you then you should be able to book via BA if you want to, if Qatar have availability
