Forums Other London life Hotel access from LCY, this Wednesday (tube/train strike)

So thanks to rail chaos, I’m going to fly down to LCY on Wednesday evening, arriving around 9pm.

As I understand it, DLR will be operational, as will the Lizzie Line.

I assume aside from a very expensive cab ride through the Blackwall Tunnel, staying near the o2 is a non-starter?

You could take the DLR and then the cable car – not sure on their luggage rules though.

FYI Page 7 of this PDF contains the terms for bringing luggage on the cable car https://content.tfl.gov.uk/london-cable-car-conditions-of-carriage.pdf

But the cable car stops at 10pm in the winter, which is going to start cutting it fine.

I’ll only have a small bag with me, but the timing’s the issue. Can see a delay on the inbound and subsequent bill for a taxi to BA being met with short shrift!

Are none of the hotels around LCY an option?

I’m now having visions of you a la Pierce Brosnan racing along the Thames in a speedboat, hitching a ride on a hot air balloon, then sliding down the Millennium Dome (as it was) 😂

Yes, don’t stay near the O2.
Whereabouts do you need to be for Thursday morning?

I need to be in the City on Thursday but prices look toppy. Have booked somewhere at Stratford. The challenge is that I’d be tempted to fly down earlier if I can get my work sorted so being holed up at one of the City airport hotels will be rather miserable.

    Mind, Westfield 😂

I can cancel the hotel until Monday if something better comes along. Also assume that the DLR won’t be serving Bank…
