Refer a friend….

Refer for the platinum as you get much more for this.

You can test this yourself (click on your own link!) but when you click on the link it will say something like “Byron has referred you for a slice of Amex heaven – continue.”

Then after clicking continue you should see in the top left “view all cards with a referral offer”.

You still get the higher bonus as a platinum person and your friend should be able to apply for the card they want.

As Froggee says, you refer from your Platinum card, as you’ll get most points this, but the person that you are referring is free to choose any card they wish, and you’ll still get the same bonus points.

So send the link from your Platinum, your friend can close the box on the top right hand side, and scroll down to the bottom and choose other cards, in this case, if they want Gold, they can look under “membership rewards”. They should get 22k MR for using a referral and hitting the spend target, as opposed to 20k, and you will probably be getting 18k MR for referring (that’s what I get on Platinum).

It will show on your app how many points you are getting for a referral, and your friend can see how many points they are getting for using a referral when they select any card.
