No, I haven’t gone mad.  Don’t worry.

“Lemon Popsicles & Strawberry Milkshakes: Love, Love Me Do” is a ‘Various Artists’ compilation CD (3 CD’s actually).  I have no idea what it is about, and frankly I’m not really bothered!

What I AM bothered about is the fact that a) it only costs £3 and b) Tesco Direct is giving 150 bonus Clubcard points when you pre-order a copy!

The Tesco Direct link is here.

The maths here is compelling enough to order a copy.  Even without a Clubcard to Avios points conversion bonus (which is highly likely at some point in 2013), you are getting 363 Avios for £2.97, so just 0.82p each.  A 50% conversion bonus would take that down to 0.55p each.

Postage is free as well, so you don’t even need to bother doing ‘Click and Collect’.

If you give it to Oxfam, they’ll probably sell it for £5 and (if you’re a 40% taxpayer) you’ll be able to claim £1 tax relief if you sign up for their Gift Aid scheme.

(Which you should … Oxfam has sold £1,000 of our stuff this year.  They get an extra £200 because of the Gift Aid, and we get £200 back via  our tax returns.)

Apologies if I’m being the “slow one at the back” here, but even when I take this right up to payment (but don’t actually pay, obviously) it’s still saying I’m only getting 3 clubcard points.

Is there any magic required to add the bonus points?

  • tommyl78 says:

Ignore me, there’s actually another “lemon popsicles…” CD, again for £3 that doesn’t have the bonus points.

  • David says:

“Postage is free as well, so you don’t even need to bother doing ‘Click and Collect’.”

    – Collect at store is actually greyed out, ‘These items can only be delivered.’

Given it is free delivery that will not be a problem for most people. But for some of us that is more awkward than collect at chosen store, especially if it might need signing.

  • Roger says:

Thanks for this. Just stretching the offer, the bonus is per item so 300 extra CC points for £6 for example

The CD seems to be another ‘oldies but goodies’ package recycling old hits so our Swiss family who love this kind of thing almost had an extra Christmas present. As the CD is due for delivery in January, they’ll have to wait for it.

  • Steve says:

OK, now it’s my turn to be the slow one at the back. I cannot see any reference anywhere to the clubcard offer – only that it’s points. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

  • Steve says:

    Ah, yes, thanks.

  • VC10 says:

Cheers Raffles – I was wondering how to get Avios on my secret santa gift.

  • tommyl78 says:

Your secret santa target may be a little put out when they get their gift on 15 January though…
