Forums Other Destination advice Brussels Airlines Business Class (within Europe) — worth it?

Looking to treat myself this year. I found some decent value flying business class to the Canaries over Christmas with Brussels Airlines. Has anyone had any experience with their short haul business class product? Just trying to work out if it’s good value or not. BA’s direct flights always seem to leave at silly o’clock and usually from Gatwick so don’t mind the connection.

Have not flown with them but unless you’re on an IB A330 MAD-LHR or AY A350 LHR-HEL or similar with flat beds most intra European business class flights follow the same model of business being the same seat as economy but with the middle one kept empty, some sort of meal / snack depending on flight length but with extra bags (usually 2×32 v 1×23 in economy) and lounge access.

If their schedule is better for you than BAs and you’re OK with not earning TPs and avios then I say give them a try.

As Brussels is a hub for private sector and public sector plus NGOs and conferences, Brussels Airlines flights IMO tend to be very full and sell out early.

Short haul J is only ever the front row, with no curtain separating from Y. Whilst they do respect priority boarding, that includes Star Alliance Golds at the same time (of which many amongst the BRU frequent work flyers) and Flex n Fast fare class economy ticketholders.

Service is provided in the form of a drinks trolley but the meal is…..I kid you not….a salad bowl of the type that one could buy in an airport branch of Pret. Not plated or anything, no tray either. Just a cardboard salad bowl with plastic lid, handed to you as a take it or leave it option.
