Looking for advise on location to spend about 2 weeks in Mauritius in December 2022.
Will probably be using Airbnb as family of 4 with 2 kids.
I learn it is better to stay in the north of island which is likely to have a better weather compared to south.

Hotels will probably not cater even thoughI have Marriott bonvoy voucher for use.

East side tends to be windy. The south is more scenic. When we go, we book a week in south and a week just north of Port Louis. Always had good weather and we usually go anytime between November and End January. Wherever you end up it’ll be great!

We were in Mauritius last Christmas. We stayed at The Westin and then Intercontinental, which are next to each other (suspect same owner). The Westin has a more boutique-y feel, with villas but more pricey. Intercontinental was more of a resort, but not too big.

For 6 people, I would try the Intercontinental Presidential Suite, which sleeps 6 and are enormous. If you have (or buy) IC Ambassador you can get these for 500 EUR for a weekend, and maybe use 2 weekend vouchers. Maybe worth booking some standard rooms on points during the week, and they may you stay in the suite anyway. The presidential suites have a mini kitchen and a full fridge (no cooking facilities though), so you can also stock up from the supermarket.

If you get an airbnb, go for Trois Biches beach, on the west side. Great beach and very shallow water, so good for kids. There is an amazing restaurant there,Le Pescatore. A french one. Then there is the Sugar factory to visit, with a lovely adjacent restaurant next to it. Great for kids to run around on the grass.

    Thanks for all your replies.
One possibility that I am also open to is an All Inclusive deals.
Any options worth looking at all inclusive hotels/resorts?

We had the option of taking all inclusive at the IC Mauritius. We decided not to and i was glad. The total bill was a fraction what we would have paid for AI. If you have children, you just cannot drink as much, so to make the AI worthwhile. As for eating, breakfast was included, and in the heat, we just had light meals. And the on-site Italian was good value and delicious. there were some younger crowd who would drink all day, so AI was probably a saving for them. But that’s just me, when you have children to watch over.

If you book Outrigger on their own website you get access to the plantation club . This looks like their executive lounge , breakfast afternoon tea and canapes and a private pool . The rates are cheaper than other sites too and allow free cancellation.
The resort is at one end of the island .
We are also looking at Otentic which is glamping for a few days too.
