Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Beach / city combined Hilton hotel – looking for inspiration

  • NotTheRealRob 86 posts

    Hi

I keep going round in circles so I’m looking for ideas. I am looking for a hotel in a town/city with easy access to the beach. Love Alicante City but the Hilton there has no outdoor facilities and this time ideally looking for a pool etc.

Open to suggestions anywhere in Europe really. Ideally Hilton for points but not a deal breaker if you have a great suggestion. Just like great choice of restaurants and a beach but not the typical Brits abroad places like Benidorm.

    Thanks

There are 2 beachside Curios in the south of France, around Hyeres Toulon airport catchment area.

    Another Curio around Malaga/Torremolinos.

The Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik is well regarded.

Hilton don’t have a lot of beach-resort type properties in Europe – I think there are a couple of AI resorts in Turkey though.

The Hilton Curio Higueron is in the hills behind Fuengirola, I think there’s a beach shuttle but that stretch is rather Brits abroad, though not completely charmless.

I’ve got the HGI Malaga booked for next Feb, not the most glamorous location but it’s 80k points for 5 nights and plenty to do within walking and public transport distance.

Do you really need a pool in Alicante? Casa Alberola is a great reward option, loved it! Note though that cooked breakfast options are chargeable for all guests so the elite free breakfast is continental buffet only.

Barcelona will be rammed, but Hilton Diagonal matches the specs.
    I’d actually prefer Hilton Bournemouth!!

We actually did Casa Alberola in January and as you say yes its a good reward option the had a fantastic upgrade and the reception staff were fantastic. We found the staff/service in the restaurant and bar not as good if I’m honest. It wouldn’t stop us returning though.

We would prefer a pool where we can relax as prefer pool to the sea and there isn’t even a terrace to lie in the sub at Casa Alberola. We haven’t discounted it completely but if we went to Alicante we may choose The Melia

@Anna, find myself agreeing with that. I thought rooms were nicely done and worked with style of building. Staff at breakfast in early partbof stay were replaced with better ones later. We only paid 96k for 5 miggts so have to be pleased as vheapest rooms were €179 by the time stay came round. Got to be happy with that 🙂

@Not Rob, there have been reports on here about all inclusive Hilton resorts on points in Turkey I think.

    Crete was mentioned, too

I did Sardinia with Hilton last year, which was great. Car hire is a must there though

Hilton Sarigerme is becoming a family tradition for us. Overall a wonderful resort but not much around, unless you have a car

@BJ, good to know! It’s now showing as sold out for our dates so it looks as though we’re not the only ones. Any more tips gratefully received.

Hilton Rijeka Costabella is an amazing resort. It’s pretty new and Rijeka felt a lot like Italy but without the droves of tourists. The rooms, views and facilities are top notch too.

I really enjoyed the Costabella too but wouldn’t describe it as being in a city. The walk to Opatija is pleasant though and the views across the Adriatic are stunning!

A slightly left field idea (which is what we did) is a couple of nights at the Intercontinental Ljubljana (one of the loveliest European cities you’ll ever visit) and then catch the train, a slow but very pleasant 2.5 hours to Rijeka for 9 euro per person!

I’ve marked this in for a future trip, sounds fabulous!

    @Can
so not really any coach or boat daytrips around? Any nearby “town” with shops/places to eat?

    can2 467 posts

For Sarigerme, Gocek is nearby and offers plenty of boat trips. My guidebook and many random youtubers say that it is a great yachting area.
I am planning to organise a private one this summer if I can haggle and afford their last minute rates. Apart from taxis, public transport must exist, but I am sure the trip is annoying and long as the resort is pretty off track.

There are however many day trip options: mud baths, fethiye etc.. I didn’t bother with any as we have a small child.

Sarigerme itslef is like a make-shift village for resorters, it has a strip selling fake tshirts and bags alongside random restaurants. They have a pharmacy, just in case. I’d never shop or eat there — plus the Hilton is all inclusive. One thing I loved about Hilton is they had night entertainment that was really decent. I never wanted to leave during my ten days there.
