UPDATE – OCTOBER 2022:  This article is now out of date, but don’t worry.  We produce a monthly summary of the top hotel bonus point offers – please click HERE or use the ‘Hotel Offers’ menu above.

Accor has launched a four-week quiz on their Facebook site.

Fundamentally, you can earn 500 points each Monday for the next four weeks.  You are guaranteed to get all the questions right if you spend a bit of time looking up the answers, which involves matching cities to spots on a map.

Get all the questions right over the four weeks and you would earn 2000 Le Club Accorhotel points.

Now, 2000 Accor points – on its own – does not get you far.  It does get you a $60 / Euro 40 voucher to spend at or in an Accor (Sofitel, Novotel etc) property, but you would need to stay in one to get the saving.

You can also transfer Accor points into airline miles, including BAEC and Iberia Plus, but you need 4,000 points in order to make a transfer.  This offer is therefore only really worth bothering with if you have an existing stash of Accor points you want to build up.

Can you not just setup automatic conversion to airline miles in advance, and have them go almost straight away? (I have auto convert turned on, to Iberia as the rate is much better than BAEC, and so far smaller amounts than 4000 have auto-converted)

Is anyone else having trouble getting this to work? When I enter my Accor Club email address, it says it’s wrong; when I enter my facebook email address, the login button does nothing at all. Any hints?

    • gnarly says:

I’m also getting nowhere with this. No errors, just no action.
I can enter all details, but the “log me in” button is not doing anything.

I have tried Chrome and IE on a PC, Chrome and Safari on a Mac.

      • Raffles says:

Perhaps it doesn’t go fully live until tomorrow, which is the first day?

        • James says:

Haha yes no doubt I was just being impatient. Thanks as always for the heads up – will make sure other family Accor Club members get this, a very easy 20K Avios here (via Iberia).

        • Curtis says:

No, some people on the facebook page have entered already, and the contest ends on 13 Nov, which means there are only 3 weeks left. Anyway, it is limited to about 25000 people, as the T&Cs say only 50 million points will be given out.

          • Raffles says:

First week ends tomorrow it seems, so still time to play, albeit if it isn’t fixed soon then that is a moot point …

  • gnarly says:

Always nice to have an excuse to blame the French.

  • Curtis says:

Ahahah, they messed up again, they got the two French-speaking cities in Africa the wrong way round (probably, but since we’re blaming the French here…) so only 400 points for everyone. Let’s see if this autoconverts like gagravarr said.

    • James says:

Yep, I finally got to participate, was careful with all my answers, and only got 400 points 🙁

  • martindeutsch says:

I’ve just had a look at the rules, and it seems that if you’re using dial-up internet, you can invoice them for the €0.054 they estimate it’ll cost you, plus the cost of a stamp. I assume there’s some sort of French law which requires them to…

  • Chris says:

Can’t login access the competiton with my Accor account number and password on the facebook page. I have changed the email on my Accor account but still no luck. Anyone else having the same problem?
