It looks very impressive, being a conversion of this historic building overlooking the port:
The reason I mention this is that – as often happens with new Priority Club properties – it is currently being offered for points redemptions at a heavily reduced rate.
At present, you can book a room for any date after May 1st for just 30,000 points per night. This is a 40% reduction from the usual rate of 50,000 points per night. For comparison, at least until the new points structure kicks in on January 18th, a dumpy Holiday Inn Express in London will cost you 25,000 points per night!
There are up to 3 flights per day on British Airways from Heathrow to Marseille, and on Avios they will cost you only 9,000 Avios plus £30 in Economy. As the gateway to Provence, there should be plenty to explore in the nearby area. The official hotel website is here.
I have been looking for other interesting Priority Club hotels with pre-opening discounts but have come up blank.
However, there are some to watch. This webpage, whilst branded as Crowne Plaza, covers opening across all of the Priority Club brands. Upcoming European hotels that jumped out at me were the Crowne Plaza in Edinburgh (June 1st), Hotel Indigo in Barcelona (February 1st), Crowne Plaza in Berlin (May 1st) and a Holiday Inn in Cannes (August 1st).
A couple of London discounts from last year are still live – I will recap those tomorrow.
