‘£10 off East Midlands Trains’ discount codes are back

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Two months ago I wrote about a special offer from East Midlands Trains, offering vouchers worth £10 off any journey to or from London.  They have now brought it back.

(East Midlands Trains runs from London St Pancras to Sheffield, but also covers Nottingham, Doncaster and Chesterfield amongst other places.)

Whilst this promotion has only been emailed to parts of East Midlands Trains mailing list, ANYONE can claim one of these £10 vouchers.

All you need to do is visit this website.  You will receive an East Midlands Trains promotional code immediately.’

The terms and conditions are OK:

You must book by July 31st (which would let you book for trips up to the end of October)

You cannot use it for First or Standard Class Anytime tickets or London Day Out tickets

Your trip must include East Midlands Trains for all or part of the journey

The voucher CAN be mixed with Railcard bookings

The obvious thing to do here is to book a return trip as two single journeys, so you would save £20 on a return.

Note that East Midlands Trains serves Luton Airport Parkway so this is a great way to get to Luton Airport cheaply.

    Brilliant. Thanks.

Besides going to Luton Airport, is there anywhere nice with East Midlands station to go for a day trip from of London? Not too far of course.

    • Rob says:

Nottingham is OK. Nowhere massively scenic, though, unless you do a weekend in the Peak District National Park. That will require a car as well, though.

Don’t forget that Nottingham’s got a Hooters bar too! 😀 lol

You don’t necessarily need a car for the Peak District – take East Midlands trains to Sheffield and then grab a ticket on Northern Rail for approx £6-7 return to Edale. Beautiful village, only 20 mins or so on the train from Sheffield, right in the heart of the Peak District. Several country pubs in walking distance, lots of peaks around if you fancy a walk/climb. If you look up Advance Fare tickets to Sheffield on a weekend in August you can see them for approx £20 one-way, so knock off £10 from that using the voucher and you could have a very cheap day out in a lovely part of the country!

Bear in mind though your total travelling time will be 3-4 hours each way, so you may wish to treat yourself to a B&B in the Peaks or get a Travelodge/Ibis type accommodation near the central train station in Sheffield. Sheffield itself has a wonderful selection of bars and restaurants and is easily my favourite of all the Northern cities.

+1 for recommended destinations on EastMidland line please – aside from Nottingham (severe disruptions throughout Jul/Aug)?

  • Ant says:

Thanks Raffles. For some reason it doesn’t let me use the voucher from London St Pancras to Luton Airport Parkway , but it works when i try Luton Airport to St Pancras.

    • flibbly says:

Hmmm. I can’t use it for either a Nottm-St Pancras return or an East Midlands Parkway-St Pancras return. Very strange.

  • James says:

    Is this working for anyone?

  • Mike says:

A slight addition to the T&C. Travel must be in July or August.

  • Alex Winchester says:

Brilliant. Took a bit of playing with the website to get it to run through, but if you stipulate London St Pancras instead of just ‘London’ it should work.

    £10 off a ticket I needed anyway – winning!
