Free TfL £5 and ‘£10 off £50 at Esso’ offers now open to all Amex cardholders

Last week I wrote about the generous new American Express promotion from Transport for London.

It is offering £5 cashback when you spend £5 or more on tube, bus and rail tickets in London when you use your Amex as a contactless payment card.

Few people seemed to have received the offer on their online Amex accounts.

However, it has now appeared on the American Express cardmember offers website which you can access here. This means that it is now open to everyone.

Via that link, you can register any BA, SPG, Nectar, Costco, Gold, Platinum, Green or Centurion Amex you have, plus supplementary cards.  Don’t waste your time if your Amex cards are not contactless.

It is limited to the first 25,000 cards to register and you must spend your £5 by November 30th.  I am guessing that this is cumulative and that you do not need to spend £5 in the same day.

The decent Esso offer is also on the ‘cardmember offers’ site. This gives you £10 back when you spend £50 in one transaction.  It is limited to the first 25,000 cards to register and you must spend by November 24th.  You could top up a small petrol payment with a third party gift card if your garage sells them.

I have a Lloyds Amex, and my transaction tracked as MALTHURST so seems no automatic credit, but Lloyds bank wont help at all with this, anyone have a email address or phone number that would help me, I don’t have a ‘proper amex’ so cant just secure mail them.

I cannot find any Esso’s that sell gift cards of any kind. It looks like it’s not one of their lines.

My local Esso without a Tesco shop sells a wide variety of gift cards.

The Esso with a Tesco shop sells some giftcards. I have bought Tesco giftcards though as they are easy to spend.

Is your shop quite a big one? Here in Cumbria they are all small and I’ve rang around 5 who all have none for sale.

Any in the Glasgow or Edinburgh area that you can recommend?

Nice reminder. £5 off a Montecristo at my local cigar shop always makes it taste sweeter.

Anyone else having mega problems getting the map to work? It gives “near me” results, but then blanks when I try to get back after clicking an icon. Works ok on mobile. Weird.

For clarity this does not start until 6 December which is why I haven’t covered it yet!
