Hilton HHonors has launched a new bonus promotion with Lufthansa Miles & More for anyone who would prefer to take airline miles as part of their Hilton HHonors earnings.

It covers stays from January 1st to March 31st.  Registration is required via this website.

You will earn:

Standard Miles & More miles (1 per $1) on your first stay

Double miles on your second stay

Triple miles on your third stay

Quadruple miles on your fourth and further stays

Remember that Hilton HHonors has two earning options.  You can choose either:

‘Points & Points’ – 10 base and 5 bonus Hilton points per $1, or

‘Points & Miles’ – 10 base Hilton points and 1 airline mile per $1

As I value a Hilton HHonors point at 0.3p, it is generally better value to take 5 x 0.3p per $1 over 1 airline mile, which I would value at 1p max.  With this Lufthansa promotion, however, the miles are worth far more than the Hilton HHonors points from your second stay.

Of course, if you don’t already have a Miles & More account, there is no point in opening one just for this promotion.  You would never earn enough miles for a decent redemption.  That said, it is not a bad deal for existing Miles & More collectors.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (April 2025)

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.

SPECIAL OFFER: Until 30th April 2025, the annual fee on the basic Hilton Honors debit card is halved from £60 to £30. The sign-up bonus is also easier to earn – you need to spend £1,000 either in the UK or abroad within three months. The usual bonus rule requires you to spend the full £1,000 outside the UK.

There is another way of getting Hilton Honors status, and earning Hilton Honors points, from a payment card.

Holders of The Platinum Card from American Express receive FREE Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Radisson Rewards Premium and MeliaRewards Gold status.
