Christmas is coming and your wine rack is looking a little empty.  As, potentially, is your Avios or Virgin Flying Club balance.  Don’t worry.

Tesco Wine has launched a new ‘open to everyone’ promotional code via a tie-in with moneysavingexpert.com.

This is not the most generous deal they have run during 2015.  Given that we are coming up to Christmas, however, I am pleasantly surprised to see any offer at all.

Discount code XXLRTY gives 500 bonus Clubcard points on any £60+ order placed by Sunday 15th November, subject to a maximum of 3,500 people using it.

500 Clubcard points are worth 1,200 Avios or 1,250 Virgin Flying Club miles.  If you are willing to gamble that the current 20% Avios transfer bonus and 15% Virgin transfer bonus will be repeated in the New Year, they would be worth even more.

There are quite a few deals running at the moment, including premium brands such Taittinger champagne and Oyster Bay.  The full list of Tesco Wine special offers can be found here.  These will double up with the 500 points code as long as your order is for £60 or more.

Delivery is free because you are spending over £50.

The Tesco Wine home page is here.

500 points at Tesco groceries (not wine club) on any 6 bottles and it works on small bottles as well.

Just ordered some cheeky Malbec for Christmas using the code and 365 – thanks Rob and Liz!

Be quick – the MSE e-mail is out, and the offer was on the MSE site last night as well.

    • Rob says:

These codes never seem to run out. My bet is that Tesco picks a cap which sounds low but in reality is just above the number of sale they expect.

For example, the last offer (which was more generous, 500 points on any 6 bottles which were as low as £30) had a higher cap of 5,000.

All these drink/points related posts make me feel as if I’m teetotal!

  • Choons says:

Thanks, I was one of the cancelled orders people, so this will go some way to trying it again.
