LAST CHANCE: Get a Hilton HHonors status match from your existing hotel loyalty card

The third article today is our regular ‘last chance’ feature which reminds you of promotions which are about to close and which you may have forgotten.  This one is too important to tuck away there.

Tomorrow, Monday 11th, is the last day to ask Hilton HHonors to match your existing hotel status card.

Your new status will last until 31st March 2017.

There is no excuse, none at all, for not doing this if you have status with any other hotel programme.  Hilton is not guaranteed to accept requests from some of the more minor schemes (even Accor appears to be having mixed success) but it does no harm to ask.

The website you need to visit to apply for your match is here.

Hilton Diamond 350

You should do this even if you only have mid-tier status with another hotel programme.  Hilton Gold (their middle level) is the best in the business.  You will receive free breakfast, except at Waldorf-Astoria properties, and an upgrade of some kind.  Being able to match, say, IHG Rewards Club Gold – which has no real benefits – to Hilton Gold would be a great result.

I was able to match my IHG Rewards Club Spire Elite status to Hilton Diamond.

The gap between Gold and Diamond is not huge, to be honest.  It does guarantee me lounge access whenever I stay at a Hilton Group property which has a lounge which, in itself, makes it a status worth having.  You do not get guaranteed suite upgrades.

Anecdotal evidence is that Hilton status gets you better recognition in Europe than in the US, where the market is swamped with Hilton status members.  This is another good reason to apply.

If you want to see more about the benefits of Hilton Gold and Hilton Diamond, you can see the official details here at hilton.com.

  1. Woohoo ! Just had IHG Plat matched to Hilton Diamond.
I tend not to stay in Hilton properties so will have to do some reading up on HFP 🙂

  2. Thanks for the tip – now a Diamond.
Does this give any benefits if not staying at a Hilton ie at the bar/restaurant etc.

    • Not really – SPG let you get points when dining at the hotel even if not staying but that’s not something Hilton offer (you need to be staying at the hotel and charge your restaurant/bar bill to your room to get points)

  3. Thanks for this. I have IHG Platinum Elite (not sure how I am still that as don’t hold paid for credit card and no paid for nights!), and yesterday received confirmation this had been matched to Hilton Diamond. Well pleased with that!

Now a question – can I use my newly acquired Hilton Diamond status to get a match with any other scheme?

  4. Just checked-in to a Hilton hotel and saw the following sign at the front desk:

    Status Match with HHonors
It’s easy – send proof of your other loyalty card level and Hilton HHonors number to [email protected] and we will match your status with HHonors so you can enjoy the rewards and benefits whilst staying at a Hilton Worldwide hotel*

*Status match to Gold and Fast Track to Diamond available with proof of existing loyalty level
