Bits: Win a trip to the Dutch Caribbean with KLM, win a trip to the Caribbean with BA

With miles and points news a bit thin on the ground today, we can let our minds wander and think …… wouldn’t it be nice to escape to the Caribbean for a week?!

If the answer to that question is yes, here are two competitions where you can win trips to different Caribbean islands.

(By the way, if you are wondering ‘does a HFP reader ever win one of these competitions?’, we have some great news to share in a day or so!)

Win flights for 2 from the UK to Aruba with KLM

KLM is running a competition giving away flights from the UK via Amsterdam to Aruba with 7 nights all inclusive accomodation at the Barcelo Aruba.

You need to take a quiz where your knowledge about Aruba is being tested which can be found on this website.  It doesn’t matter how many questions you get right.  After that, you need to log in with your Twitter or Facebook account in order to be entered into the prize draw.  If you don’t have a Twitter or Facebook account, you can’t enter.

The competition ends at 23:59 on 21st October.  What is attractive about this is that it is restricted to KLM’s UK customer base which is a relatively small group.

Win a trip to the Caribbean with British Airways

In order to promote their routes to the Caribbean, British Airways and Time Out are giving away a trip to the Caribbean. The prize includes (economy!) return flights for 2 to either Turks & Caicos, Tobago, Dominican Republic, St Kitts, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Barbados or Jamaica and 7 days accommodation in a 4* hotel with breakfast.

To enter you need to choose one Caribbean Island and fill out your details on this website. The terms and conditions can be found here.

The competition ends at 23:45 on 25th October.

  2. Can’t get the BA-Timeout link to work 🙁

  3. Oliver Bennett says:

OT: if anyone has any reservations about churning the amex gold card; I just cancelled mine and the agent said “if you want to apply again for this card make sure you leave it 6 months so you are elibile for the welcome bonus” its like they are actively informing people to churn

    • Raffles says:

I was told by an Amex staffer that sign-ups is the key performance metric they have!

      • Genghis says:

I do my bit to help Amex staff hit their bonuses!

        • heehee

to all those naysayers out there who think it is possible to “overchurn”

        • I can also reveal that 2 credit card plus 2 charge card may not be official policy afterall as with my nectar I have 3 credit and 1 charge card, still overall 4 though.

  4. Peter K says:

The KLM flights are also economy. At least the hotel is AI unlike BA giving just B&B!

  5. OT: Has anyone else not been able to login to for the last few days? Mine keeps coming up with Error “Unfortunately our systems are not responding…” since Monday.

    • I get this all the time. Try a different browser.

    • Lady London says:

I’ve noticed that sometimes the BA site seems to start doing this when I’ve tried quite a few fare permutations or long time searching. It keeps doing it until either cookies cleared or different browser.

    • I had this a few times. Also when trying to register a new user (for friends) I select home address, complete the details, and it rejects the application with a list of errors about the business name and parts of the business address! I kept trying, and eventually it accepted the details.

I’m now having exactly the same problem trying to register a new account for my wife (hers is repeatedly being hacked, and BA have finally accepted that a new account is the answer).

  6. OT: Not sure if already covered on HFP, but logged into my BAEC account to see BA hols seems to be having a sale over xmas to US, biz class flights + 3 nights hotel from £1149.

  7. Tilly71 says:

Hertz gold points offer through accor promo, how long did it take for the extra 900 points to be added recently, this is when people got 1800 instead of 900?

  8. Can someone expalin this BA 6000avios IHG promotion to me please?

  9. Can someone explain this BA 6000avios IHG promotion to me please? From the t/c, I don’t see how is the bonus avios is awarded/ mention? Thanks!

  10. Jonathan says:

Is anyone else having a problem with the KLM comp, the site is extremely slow then when you’ve answered all the questions and click see results I get a 502 bad gateway error!

  11. OT bits – for anyone that is interested, Enterprise/National Car Rental are doing top-tier status match to Hertz and Avis status – – I submitted my Hertz PC status (courtesy of Accor Plat) and within a couple of hours they’d sent me an email confirming my successful match 🙂

  12. I can’t get the BA Carribbean link to work:
comes up blank which ever browser use. And I can’t find it on any google search….
    Any tips?

  13. Ross Parker says:

To be a pedant, the KLM Quiz claims that wind turbines are “windmills” which they aren’t, as they don’t mill anything 😉 Can you tell I don’t like being wrong?

  14. Yes I like that
