STILL RUNNING: Up to 20,000 Avios with your household, business or landlord insurance

If your mind has turned to sorting out your insurance issues for the new year, I wanted to give you a reminder about the generous deals available via insurance broker Alan Boswell, which recently became an earning partner.

You can earn up to 20,000 Avios when you take out household, business or landlord insurance.

If your household insurance is due this month you may want to give them a call.

If you have a buy to let property, you can also pick up a large pile of Avios points when you take out landlord insurance.  You will also earn points if you take out business insurance for your company.

This is what you can earn at present:

3,000 Avios per policy priced below £200

5,000 Avios per policy priced between £200 and £499

10,000 Avios per policy priced between £500 and £999

20,000 Avios per policy priced above £1,000

The company is also now able to offer negotiated bonuses for very large policies.  They told me that they recently did a special Avios deal for someone taking out a £5,000 household policy for example.  The highest amount of Avios paid out so far in one transaction is 50,000.

Because this is an offer, the points will be placed into an account.  You can move them across to British Airways Executive Club using the ‘Combine My Avios’ feature on either website.

Alan Boswell Avios

As a specialist insurance broker, Alan Boswell will give you best quote it can from the wide range of underwriters it works with.  This means that it is very likely that it will be competitive with your current insurance quote as you will be getting the lowest price from across a wide range of providers.

If you have a buy to let property, landlord insurance appears to be a tax deductible expense.  A business insurance policy is obviously also deductible.  This means that it would even be worth paying a little more than your current provider if you could secure 10,000 or 20,000 Avios on top.

How to buy

The system is a little fiddly, I admit.

For business and household insurance, you need to ring Alan Boswell for a quote.  The details can be found on this page of their website.

For landlord insurance, you can get a quote and purchase online via their website.

The value of the Avios should make them competitive.  I will continue to give them a nudge as this is one of those offers that you are likely to forget about until your have a policy renewing.

  1. HonestJonny says:

OT: what experiences do people have of how long it takes for the Hilton status match take to process?

  2. Definitely worth doing. I essentially renewed my previous cover because it was still the best deal. But they did it under their brokerage and gained 10k Avios.

Q I haven’t asked them. Essentially I am not signed to them as my broker. When it comes to renewal will I lose out if I go for the identical policy again?

    • Your policy must be high value. I’ve been with them for a few years and they couldn’t offer me any Avios on renewal. They said they would try for renewals of a certain value.

  3. Tina Hammond says:

The best avios per spend ratio seems to be 3k avios for £200 spend. The more you spend the fewer avios you get pro-rata…which is the reverse of what generally happens……

If I was spending £5k I’d want more than 50k avios..

  4. Mark Bates says:

When I asked them for a quote last year the price they offered me for household insurance was more than double my current cost (I also used some comparison sites which confirmed my current policy at the time was about right still and it was) So not a starter for me, but perhaps it works better for others.

    • johnny_c-l says:

Same for me, and car insurance quote was about £3k(!) so must be just higher value policies they specialise in.

  5. I received a Home Buildings/Contents Insurance quote from them last November and was surprised to find it was around £80 cheaper than my current Insurer for the same cover. I also received the Avios so for me it was win win. I found the whole process easy and everything was done quickly and efficiently.

  6. Tracy Regan says:

They provided a quote £20 less than my current home and contents (M&S) and the 5000 Avios are already in my account. Professional and all it took was a phone call.

  7. Stuart P says:

These guys just trounced my renewal quote (70% cheaper on a 3 bed semi!) and were actually better than any of the quotes from a comparison site. Great service too.

    • Good, glad it worked out. Feedback is generally good although obviously they won’t always be cheapest in every case for every person. I also have a direct line to the person who looks after the Avios partnership (and who was at the Christmas party) so you won’t have any problems getting those credited.

  8. Alan Boswell wasn’t prepared to negotiate the Avios on a £2,900 policy.
They did come up with a competitive quote -though not the lowest I could find.
I’d need to value the Avios at 0.65p each for the quotes to match.

    • If you can’t get well over 0.65p you aren’t looking hard enough 🙂

    • Alan Boswell Group says:

Hi AliC, if not too late if you wanted to send me your details on [email protected] I can see what I can do. I head up the relationship and can’t remember seeing this one so couldn’t use my magic wand. Regards Simon
