Virgin Atlantic has unveiled its new ex-airberlin leased A330-200 aircraft

Virgin Atlantic has released footage of their new aircraft “Daydream Believer” (G-VMNK), the first of four A330-200 leased from the remnants of Air Berlin to replace some of its B787 aircraft whilst engine issues are being sorted.

From March 2018 the A330-200 will operate on the Manchester routes to New York, Boston, San Francisco and Barbados.

The seat configuration will be different to the usual Virgin Atlantic aircraft.

Upper Class will have 19 seats with three different variations: Love Suite (in the centre of the cabin and ideal for couples or groups travelling together), Solo Freedom Suite (direct aisle access) and Solo Corner Suite (extra privacy).  This is, in truth, a way of selling as a benefit the lower level of privacy that some Air Berlin seats have compared to the standard Upper Class seat.

The Economy cabin will have 46 Economy Extra Legroom seats and 222 Economy seats.  There is no Premium Economy.

The planes are fully Wi-Fi enabled with free messaging in Upper Class.

You can see the transformation of the exterior from Air Berlin to Virgin Atlantic in this rather cool video below.

OT I have a leak in my ceiling but not sure if it’s pipework or the shower unit. Anyone know? OMG stick to the topic, can’t we have a miscellaneous thread??

    • Brian says:

Sounds like you have a faulty connection somewhere. You ought to get it sorted out.

    • Lumma says:

Because this is the bits article where people traditionally post unrelated advice or questions?

    • Peter K says:

As already mentioned, this IS the miscellaneous thread. The bits page has been so for ages.

    • Alex Sm says:

Haha, great comment, exactly my thoughts! People are so ego-centric about their own issues. There was a topic about Etihad a couple of days ago, perfect place for comment about EY redemption, but not here and so on

    • Leo says:

This is my one pet peeve about HfP – but the convention is/has always been OTs go in the Bits article, which this is. Of late this convention seems to have gone to the wall and people (particularly newer posters who probably can’t be blamed because they have seen this happening) post wherever they like. If we went back to using the Bits article as the misc thread I think we’d all be happier.

Actually I do have an On/T comment – I tried to get VA Premium Economy MAN-ATL this summer and there was zero availability, so I suspect the issue is not only with the four destinations mentioned.

    • TripRep says:

How far in advance did you search for availability?

Recentl or from when they first became available months ago?

  • Zain says:

The new LH livery looks like a sloppy take on QF’s iconic red Roo. Seriously, take a look:

Looks almost new. Can’t help though but think of the two words…..Al and Italia.

  • Concerto says:

AirEuropa had a relatively nice red and blue logo and now it’s just a bland blue thing. This feels very similar

OT SPG referred by dad 10 days ago still no points, Is it starting to take longer?

    • xcalx says:

Amex Plat to SPG referred on Sunday. both the 18,000 MR points and card arrived on Thursday. Today the email arrived saying Nana xcalx had been accepted.

    • Rob says:

Yes, it has slowed down, not sure why. Seems to be SPG specific.

    • Tom Cook says:

Referred my Mrs for a SPG card and it took around 5 days to post the 18k MR.

Oddly, her card has arrived a few days ago and this morning she got an email to say her card was on the way……(she’d not had anything to date email wise in that regard).

  • Anna says:

OT, got a message last night saying my Curve card is on its way. I applied about 3 weeks ago. This fits in very well with start of my next Lloyds card year this weeks.

    • Tracy says:

Me too, had to cancel my business curve to get the personal one though. Hope I can pay Inland Revenue with the personal one….

  • TripRep says:

Shame there’s no PE on those routes, quite surprising..
