I have just tried to top up my Revolut card with the IHG credit card and had the transaction declined. When I called creation they said it was because it was a cash transaction exceeding the daily limit of £300, so the may have also updated how these transactions post.

    • Memesweeper says:

+1 — IHG Creation doesn’t work for me with Revolut.

      • Dave says:

+1, beware IHG often charge a 3% handling charge and unless in credit an interest on the cash

  • Mark says:

O/T Some follow up from a post I made earlier this week regarding forfeiting SPG points when closing the SPG Amex. I got the call centre rep to relisten to the call as I was certain they hadn’t said over the phone that my points (over 18,000!) would be forfeited if I cancelled the card. Turns out I was right and this hadn’t been read out to me so Amex will send me the points I was due. Just flagging that its always worth challenging Amex if you believe they have made an error.

    • Genghis says:

Bet you’ll be waiting for points to move across next time.

      • marknewstart says:

How long does the transfer take before they are posted

      • Mark says:

YES! Although to be fair if they had said that during the call I obviously wouldn’t have cancelled

    • Mr Dee says:

strange they should post anyway as mine did after cancelling the card.

      • roberto says:

I had a “please read this and confirm” message from Amex chat covering the forfeit clause and other blah blahs when I cancelled a Starwood card this week.

        • Genghis says:

So is this different to the BA avios cards as supposedly they’re still meant to transfer across? I always wait anyway to avoid any hassle.

        • Graham Walsh says:

I had that too when I cancelled my Plat supplementary card the other day.

        • Peter K says:

A bit late adding to this conversation but with the blurb on cancelling Mrs K’s Nectar card by live chat it specifically said that points NOT ALREADY IN MY AMEX ACCOUNT works be forfeited. This suggests that those already in there should move across. It was empty so I can’t say what would happen if any were left.
They did not give me time to read it in full before they were pushing me to say yes cancel so they could move on to the next chat.

OT – we took advantage of the Qatar sale last May. Does anyone know if there will be another Business sale coming up? Looking to book flights to Australia, but trying to avoid full price tickets if possible…

    • Ralph says:

The current Qatar sale does include business class as well. Not sure how it compares with previous sales, but I have been waiting to book flights to Vietnam next March with QR and the new business class promo fares are about £1000 less per person than when I started looking a month or so ago. It finishes on Tuesday.

  • Anna says:

OT – at MAN T3. The Escape Lounge is full (again), the World Duty Free shop seems to have reinvented itself as an Ibiza nightclub and our long awaited ***direct*** flight to Nice is delayed, presumably because it’s already had to go to Malaga and Mallorca or similar already today. Only consolation is that we are on RFS and cash price would have been £1700 for 4 of us this week!

    • the real harry1 says:

I can beat that, just checked & 4 of us in economy would have been £3222 at today’s price 🙂

      • Anna says:

Ok you win! Though I can’t check today’s price as the flight is full. I am really annoyed about the lounge, it was only about a third full. The receptionist was very smiley and welcoming when we arrived but as soon as I got out our PP cards she suddenly decided they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate us, even though we just wanted some breakfast and would have been happy to leave if the place subsequently filled up.

        • the real harry1 says:

A bit worried myself as I said we’d have to leave about 12 so they let us in, not planning to go for another 40 mins 🙂

only about 75% full so should be OK

        • John says:

They tried that with me (and my kid) once, I stood my ground and refused to leave (as there was plenty of space). We got in.

    • Darren says:

Are you heading to the G Prix?

  • David says:

OT – how long are people waiting for referral bonus MR points these days on a Platinum. For some reason I thought a Tuesday approval would have posted by now? The cards have come through (yesterday).

    • the real harry1 says:

I guess the recent 2 were 3-4 days after application – after approval presumably take off a day

      • roberto says:

Applied for Stawoods from a Plat referral on Tuesday and the 18000MR turned up today (Saturday)

  • Yan says:

Marseille ATC strikes again this weekend so expect knock-on delays for out/inbound flights flying over southeast France & Spain

  • James says:

Since Monzo became a bank I don’t think you can top up using credit cards? Or am I missing a trick?

    • Memesweeper says:

If there’s a way to top up Monzo other than a bank transfer I’ve not found it!

  • Rob MC says:

OT – IHG free night voucher, will i get an email when it arrives, or will it be obvious that it is in my IHG account? TIA

    • Rob says:

It will show and Award Wallet picks it up if you use that.

    • Graham Walsh says:

My email arrived about 2 weeks later from when I saw it in my IHG account. How hard can it be to be in sync!!
