British Airways seems to be dipping its toes into the ‘two for the price of one’ premium ticket sector.  This is something that Qatar Airways has been doing for a while, on the assumption that forcing two people to travel together means that lucrative business travellers will find it harder to take part.

The first ‘Dream Tickets’ deal is Cape Town.

As you can see on this page of ba.com, you get two First Class tickets to Cape Town from Heathrow in January, February or March for £4,052.

You must book by 18th July.  All travel must be completed by 31st March.  Full details are here on ba.com.  Remember to search for two people to get this price.  Don’t book it though ….

Instead, go here to the BA Holidays premium holidays site.  Book your First Class flights and throw in a car rental instead.  For a seven night stay in March, the cheapest deal for First Class flights and a car for a week was just £1,822 each.  Far cheaper than just booking the flight on its own ….

You can also book a ‘flight and hotel’ package here and make a saving over booking the two elements together, but ‘flight and car’ seems the way to go.

To maximise your miles when paying, your best bet is the British Airways American Express Premium Plus card which earns double Avios (3 per £1) when you book at ba.com or via BA Holidays.  You do not get double Avios if you book with the free British Airways American Express card

Another option is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold which offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.
