Thank you to everyone who came to the Head for Points Christmas party at the Holiday Inn Camden Lock on Tuesday night, generously sponsored by Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Money.

It was another great event.  Apologies to everyone who tried to get a ticket but didn’t get lucky.  We have some interesting ideas for a massive Summer party – it is far easier to secure a venue in June – so keep an eye on HfP for news nearer the time.

Here is the room:

This, sent by a reader, shows me giving my little speech:

Here is Richard from Malaysia Airlines announcing the winner of their raffle item, whilst Lisa practices her ticket-bowl holding:

Another shot from the raffle draw:

I need to give special thanks to Sinead at Virgin Atlantic, photo below as she gave her speech.  Virgin Atlantic came in at the last minute as headline sponsor – less than a week before the event – which enabled everyone who came to enjoy a free drink.  She did a great job of getting the sponsorship approved internally and supplying the decoration on the night.

To the person who got hit by the falling 2 foot wide credit card, as seen in the photo below …. sorry.  Sinead didn’t hang that up.  It was one of my crew ….

    Alan Boswell Insurance 5000 avios…

I still have to see my avios after following one of the offers I saw here and on their website. I emailed and called a few times and it’s been months now and nothing. I think it would be best for HfP not to promote such companies and their offers when they can’t deliver as it’s creating a lot of unpleasant experiences.. I have spent much in excess of what 5000 avios is worth by dealing with them and changing insurance policy.

This is also a warning for others that read so that they don’t get drawn into such offers from companies which are completely unreliable.

I can fix Boswell in 5 minutes (and could have fixed it in 5 minutes if you’d asked me). The guy who oversees the Avios scheme is someone I am in contact with on a very regular basis.

      • Dimitri says:

I know that you could have fixed this Rob (and Thanks for the offer), and possibly I could had also contacted myself the person who overseas the Avios scheme as we have already been in communication before but this is not the point. The point is it shouldn’t be so hard to get your promised avios and the companies that offer these promotions should be honouring the offers without the need of a policeman to come over and tell them to put things right..

Just to add to the comments above, it was a great evening and some very interesting and friendly people to talk to. Thanks for organising, and sorry for not getting round to saying hi to so some of the folk I promised myself I would!

Please can you give lots of advance notice for the summer party. My “on call” Rota is two months in advance, so even though I can get Avios flights from NCL to LHX – though I’d rather cheap CE for TP in advance too! 🙂 it’s hard to do without notice.

Looks like another great night, and I hope to join you all at the summer event, to get more tips and to meet people in person!

    With best wishes to all,
    Peter
