Radisson Rewards, the programme for Radisson Blu / RED / Collection, Park Inn and Park Plaza, has revealed its 2019 category changes.
These apply for redemption bookings from 1st March.
The UK impact is modest with none of the London hotels changing.
Here are the seven moves:
- Park Inn Birmingham Walsall – rises from Cat 2 to Cat 3 (28,000 points)
- Park Inn Birmingham West M5 J1 – rises from Cat 2 to Cat 3 (28,000 points)
- Radisson Blu Durham – drops from Cat 5 to Cat 4 (38,000 points)
- Park Inn Northampton – rises from Cat 3 to Cat 4 (38,000 points)
- Park Inn Southend-on-Sea – rises from Cat 3 to Cat 4 (38,000 points)
- Radisson Blu Belfast – rises from Cat 4 to Cat 5 (44,000 points)
- Radisson Blu Manchester Airport – rises from Cat 5 to Cat 6 (50,000 points)
I reviewed the Park Inn Southend-on-Sea here and the hotel website is here. By the standards of UK seaside hotels it is more than decent with a great location overlooking the sea, and my kids loved it. The picture above shows my son on our room balcony.
The full list of changes is on the Radisson Rewards website here.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (February 2025)
Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.
These cards earn Membership Rewards points:
- American Express Preferred Rewards Gold (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 60,000 Radisson Rewards points. This card is FREE for your first year and also comes with four free airport lounge passes.
- The Platinum Card from American Express (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 50,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 150,000 Radisson Rewards points
- American Express Rewards credit card (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 10,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 30,000 Radisson Rewards points. This card is FREE for life.
Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate. The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.
Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Premium status for as long as they hold the card. It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.
