The first 250 sold out in about a minute on Friday but it will hopefully be a bit more laid back today.  We honestly have no idea how many tickets we could sell because they have always sold out so quickly in the past, but we have doubled our capacity this time.

Thank you to Marriott Bonvoy for their generous sponsorship of the event, which means that your first drink (wine, bottle of beer, soft drink) will be free.   Marriott Bonvoy will also be providing raffle prizes for some lucky guests.

We look forward to seeing you on 8th July, from 6pm to 9pm.  It should be fun.

  • Stan Mullery says:

I’ve never had Amex charges on KLM/Air France as I’ve always booked via their respective UK websites.

    • Yawn says:

They used to charge, but then removed the fee along with everyone else – at least on their UK website.

    • Harry T says:

I have booked KLM flights recently on AMEX and was not charged an extra fee.

  • Nick says:

Says £1450 on Seychelles, searched Manchester Birmingham and London, still can’t find one.

    • Nick says:

Same with Johannesburg. I give up.

      • Bariummeal says:

Same. Klm site totally misleading. The 1451 fare does not exist.

    • Kenny says:

same here too.. it’s £1650+ but only on air france website, NOT KLM although they’re the same.. strange

  • Steve Shaw says:

The Aruba one is probably good as well, hardly anyone flies there and you certainly can’t go direct with anyone from the UK.

The flights were sometimes operated by a subsidiary but they seem to be on KLM A330s now.

  • Dave says:

Flew KLM business Manchester to Beijing return earlier this year.Excellemt
product and service far superior to BA.
Connections were quite tight both ways
so unable to use either lounge.

  • Jamesay says:

The pics of klm biz class seats don’t look fully flat. They look like the hideous Air France tipping seats which have the last 1/3 of the seat tilt down to fit under the seat in front in a cubit hole that restricts your feet movements. I challenged Air France on this under the U.K. Trades Descriptions Act as they advertised these awful seats in the U.K. as “lie flat” totally redefining the definition of “flat”.
Don’t be fooled you will feel like you’re falling into a chute when trying to sleep on these seats. KLM either needs to advertise his neatly or change the pics if they are out of date!

[it will hopefully be a bit more laid back today]

yeah – and my cat speaks French 🙂

    • Rob says:

Honestly don’t know. If I knew with 90% certainty we could sell 1,000 tickets I would book a venue for 1,000.

That’s the problem with quick sell outs – we get no real feel for demand.

However, the fact that a lot of the same faces appear each party makes me think total demand is not as high as 1,000.

      • BJ says:

I know it is much riskier with the weather but have you thought about organising a picnic with various food and bev vendors for the summer party? Might provide more flexibility and scope for numbers attending.

        • Rob says:

Too risky. Problem is that we need a venue with indoor capacity and outdoor space.

      • Memesweeper says:

1,000 people is too many for a party anyway. 500 may be pushing it! The vibe in the previous events has been very friendly and I hope that is maintained with the bigger venue.

    • Lady London says:

Mine’s multilingual when it comes to food !
Other than that, she’s deaf and goes her own way.

  • Jamesay says:

Again false advertising! Cheapest seat from Glasgow is 1424 to Dubai. Emirates relies directly daily on A380
. Why the hell anyone unless they’re a posing aspirational would want to go to that cultural desert is a mystery. other prices rise thru 1900 to 2500. Waste of time looking.

    • Lady London says:

If they’re that cheap from the uk I might have a squizz at ex EU in case its operating in more than one market.

      • BJ says:

Try INV, but don’t be surprised if the fare is higher despite lack of APD.

        • Lady London says:

Yes INV ought to be really good but have found it more miss than hit BJ.
I think the full amount of APD is taken off for some offers only.

Just like BA is sometimes trying to claim the cost of a ticket is peanuts and the rest is taxes. When it’s them manipulating the base cost of ticket but still taking money for themselves in their so-called “taxes”. Otherwise how could the base cost of a ticket (pre-“taxes”) be less for DUB-LHR-USA, than LHR-USA.

So of course some airlines will manipulate by not fully taking APD out of the cost of every ticket that starts in INV, JER, or Newquay.

          • Lady London says:

PS BJ will we be seeing you at the Summer Party?

          • Shoestring says:

actually we established that the Newquay APD concession is just on flights to & from Heathrow, not for connecting LH flights unfortunately

          • BJ says:

No, I cannot make it, my parents diamond wedding anniversary. Been out of country at the others too but hopefully I’ll make one soon. Getting from Edinburgh is no big deal for me, just problem with dates so far.

          • Cat says:

Gutted you can’t make it BJ. Hopefully we’ll see you at an event soon!

          • Lady London says:

Awwww BJ best case i’ve heard yet for a mini-HfP Party in Edinburgh. Would make a great autumn event Oct/Nov when weather is getting miserable. Such a pity we’ll miss you.

          • ChrisC says:

There is no APD full stop from INV (and certain other remote Scottish airports).

Belfast is different (and confusing) in that the exemption is only from direct, long haul flights. So Belfast – Orlando = no APD but Belfast-London-Orlando it is payable.

  • Gavin says:

Lack of tickets to Seoul (and US) suggests no sale prices on the routes they have revenue sharing agreements / codeshare
