There is good news for Avios, Virgin Flying Club, Asia Miles, Emirates Skywards, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Aegean Miles+Bonus, Royal Brunei Royal Skies and Lufthansa Miles & More members.

Heathrow Rewards has brought back its annual bonus promotion on electronics, watches and jewellery, keen to tap into the Christmas rush.

Heathrow Rewards gives you 1 point for every £1 spent in Heathrow (1 per £10 on foreign exchange) or on Heathrow Express tickets (online bookings only).

Heathrow Rewards Christmas bonus points

Once you’ve earned 250 points you can exchange them for miles or shopping vouchers.  If you’re not a member of the scheme yet, you can find out how Heathrow Rewards works in this article.

This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a large pile of miles.  InMotion, which replaced Dixons Travel, is included so this is a good chance to cash in on electronics, especially headphones.

Remember that you can convert Heathrow Rewards points into:

  • Avios (British Airways or Aer Lingus)
  • Virgin Points
  • Aegean Miles+Bonus
  • Asia Miles
  • Emirates Skywards
  • Lufthansa Miles & More
  • Royal Brunei Royal Skies
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

….. as well as into Heathrow shopping, parking or rail vouchers.

Any watch suggestion, looking for a good investment

  • Paul says:

If you are in the market for a high end item Heathrow is certainly not the place to buy it. Sure you might save £100 (via points) but take a flight to Paris Frankfurt or Rome and buy the same item with 20% off via VAT free shopping. You are also likely to be able to knock even more off with decent negotiation.
Fly further a field and it can be even cheaper!

    • Stu_N says:

But then you have duty and VAT to pay when you bring it into the UK….

      • Londonsteve says:

Not if it’s below £390 in value, above this only if you declare it or you’re checked and the goods in question are deemed to be worth more than that. If you dispose of the packaging who’s to say the Macbook or iPhone isn’t the same you left the country with? Bit harder to claim you habitually travel with 3 Hermes handbags, but some people actually do.

        • Stu_N says:

I assumed the “high end” comment meant it was more than the £390 exemption. The rest of your commentary is suggesting tax evasion.

          • Cats are best says:

When the government eliminates it’s own lies, corruption and self-serving, perhaps private individuals evading taxes will be worth a look.

Until then, huzzah, go for it!

    • Londonsteve says:

That’s a good point. It’s easy to forget that the cancellation of VAT free shopping affects not only incoming visitors but all of us when shopping at the airport. It’s odd how a pullover purchased when flying abroad is VATable yet alcohol or tobacco can be sold free of excise duty.

  • Metty says:

A couple of years ago I tried transferring HR to Miles&More with no success. All the transfer interface was there but it just didn’t work. Eventually I had an email saying ‘Heathrow Rewards no longer works with the partner’.
