oneworld to open its first directly managed airport lounge in Moscow

One of the announcements from the oneworld 20th anniversary event in London earlier this year was the announcement of branded and operated lounges.

This is already common practice with SkyTeam – which has one in Heathrow Terminal 4 – and Star Alliance, but oneworld has held out so far.

(There is a oneworld-branded lounge in Los Angeles, but this is the Qantas lounge in disguise.)

The first location has now been announced – Moscow Domodedovo airport.

Whilst Domodedovo is the home of S7 Airlines, a oneworld member, it seems that it is unwilling to run a flagship lounge itself and so is turning to its alliance partners for support.  Given that S7 runs 140 flights per day from Domodedovo, however, it is clear who will be providing most of the guests.

The other oneworld airlines using the airport are British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian.  They only run around 10 flights between them.

There is no opening date for the new oneworld lounge, with more details promised in the New Year.

O/T: 1,000 Bonus Flying Club points have arrived into my account for the Clubcard auto convert bonus

    • Tom1 says:

I haven’t – but checking my account I’ve just had another “Virgin credit card + reward qualification “.

Was posted 16/12/19 – two weeks after I cancelled the card before it went in to the second year. Called virgin and checked – it’s available to use. I have already used the first for a flight not yet taken, but she insisted this was another one that I could use.

Seems like Lloyd’s not the only ones being generous with vouchers.
      Happy Christmas!

      • BJ says:

Lloyds were never generous with me, unfortunately everything worked perfectly all the time.

        Thanks for heads up @EwanG.

        • Tom1 says:

Yes – worked perfectly for me sadly, but very generously for my parents who can’t make use of the vouchers.

Has anyone experience of using the voucher to book a flight for someone else? Seem to remember something – maybe just hanging up and trying again until find someone who will/can?

    • Harry T says:

I’ve also received the 1000 bonus VS miles for tesco auto concert – first time it has worked for me.

  • Travel Strong says:

OT: No status with Virgin. On a recent Virgin flight, outbound Economy and Inbound Premium – I had ‘PRIORITY’ on my OLCI boarding pass for *both* flights, and used priority check in and boarding on the Economy leg no problem. Do such benefits always stretch to the economy flights on a mixed class ticket? Taking it to the extreme, I have a trip booked – outbound Economy and Inbound Delta One… Clubhouse access on the economy leg?!

  • Nadeshka says:

    OT: Ticketing query/help.
Prepping for a redemption flight on boxing Day and in the usual checks I noticed that our 8month old hasn’t been ticketed, but us two parents have.
Have called BA yday and they couldn’t do it there and then but have fwded to relevant dept. Checked and money and avios were charged at the time.
I think this has happened as we added her after initial booking and took a few goes for them to get her name right. I definitely saw it ticketed at one point.
What happens if we get to airport and it still hasn’t been done? Can check in agent do anything or will I be stuck on the phone in Terminal 5?
She doesn’t actually get a seat anyway, would this stop us parents checking in and at least waiting airside? We’ve got a few days for it to be sorted but I’d like to be prepared in case…

    • BJ says:

If it has been sent for ticketing, and it looks like it has, then you’ll be fine. When this happens the requests go in a queue that constantly changes according to priority. With a Boxing Day departure yours will likely bd issued very soon.

      • Nadeshka says:

Thanks for the reassurance. Agent said 24 hours and it’s been a whole 25 (!) hence my query . I’ll keep an eye on it, I’m not going to be calling up on Christmas day but we’ll make sure we leave a good amount of time at the airport (our plan anyway given how unpredictable small humans can be!)

    • Lady London says:

Just to be nitpicking, baby does have a passport?

      • Anna says:

And an ESTA/relevant entry documentation for your destination?!

      • Nadeshka says:

Yup this isn’t her first flight though it is the first long haul – and club world (: wish us and the other passengers luck!
All her API info has been put in and seat selected a long time ago (i.e. bassinet one for me). E visa/visa on arrival all sorted too, though since I don’t need a visa to travel there it’ll be a new process for me when we get there.

    • Chrisasaurus says:

Had this when flew couple years back and they had to call at checkin to get it ticketed there and then (physical checkin required for baby anyway so not a massive inconvenience)

It could be worth a call to get it bumped up the queue but the fallback isnt the end of the world either..

      • Nadeshka says:

Ah so check-in agent would call – that makes me feel better. Just had visions of being forced to listen to that BA hold music for 45mins while pacing the terminal. Glad to hear it was sorted easily for you.
Agent said it would be done in 24 hours yday, might call tomorrow pm just to check there isn’t some payment issue that wasn’t initially obvious.
Lots of luggage so yes no concerns about having to go to physical check in.

        • BJ says:

Most likely send you to the ticket desk. I’ve had this too, even witn a phantom booking, and it all turned out fine so relax. In the worst case scenario your daughter can have the leading role in the next movie from the Home Alone franchise 🙂

        • Genghis says:

It took a while for BA to get the ticketing right for adding our little one to our existing bookings when he was born. IME the Twitter team take ownership of problems.

  • Kev says:

Trying to fly home with Ryanair from Denmark today:

9.30am flight has been delayed to

    13.50 at 09.19

    15.00 at 12.54

    Then 16.03 at 13.50

Can they just keep on delaying it every few hours?

    • TripRep says:

Sounds like you have a case for EU261/2004

      • AndyGWP says:

… depending on the reason TripRep 🙂

        • Lady London says:

I am sure you will note all reasons given, when and by who. Plus I think the official reason for delay appears on Expertflyer for…what…48 hours?

I rather think it could be weather though. Here’s where lounges could come in handy and at least you know you’ve got duty of care. Hope you get home by when you need to for Christmas.

          • Kev says:

Thanks all. Any idea what section of Expert Flyer I find the delay reason?

            It was FR 2675

            Home now.

          • Lady London says:

PS if its weather it has to affect your actual flight not the incoming flight. If the problem is with the incoming flight only then you are eligible for compo as well as the duty of care. Might help for you to check if other airlines’ flights were departing around your original time on similar routings.

Buying Morrison’s plastic gift cards- how does it work with the Amex deal?

Just top up any Amount you like?

    • Harry T says:

These must new new because I’ve only ever bought paper vouchers!

      @Shoestring
FYI for those spending the paper vouchers on diesel – I’ve just been told today that they are now meant to not give you change from vouchers. So you can’t spend £51 on fuel and then use £60 of vouchers – you’d have to use £50 of vouchers and pay the extra £1 using other means. However, I misunderstood the lady at the fuel station today initially, and managed to get my £9 change (albeit unintentionally).

      • Shoestring says:

they may have changed the rules – which doesn’t negate my previous 100 transactions with change 🙂

no real impact as paper vouchers are so yesterday

      • BJ says:

Yes, just out, so @Nick please share your experience if no answers here. In particlar, can we continue to use for gas. Got new anmex offers yesterday, just 7% this time but still good.

        • EwanG says:

Yes I noticed the plastic M cards in my local store on Saturday, was in a rush so did not look to see exclusions or ask about them. Interesting their Head Office did not recall all the paper vouchers from shop stock. Not in any urgent need for more (I don’t go through fuel as quickly as Harry!)

      • Tom1 says:

I bought paper ones yesterday and was told about the plastic ones – but didn’t dare risk it. Not sure if you can use in petrol station though? Would make it easier in future as they always have to go searching to find enough paper ones.
Never been refused change before – think I used some last week.

        • Shoestring says:

I had a chat with a sub mgr about the paper vouchers & she knew all about Amex 10% 🙂

some guy had ordered £5000 of paper vouchers, this was about 10th December (Xmas bonus for his staff) & they had to phone around other branches to get the vouchers sent to my local store

I said: my Amex offer ended x days ago, does your guy know what he is doing?

          his problem, apparently!

OT: Boeing boss going, wonder if he got an737MAX as part of his severance package:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50893490

    • Lady London says:

      Symbolic.
Wonder when someone will resign from the FAA then?

Guessing we’ll see pigs fly sooner…Oh look, there goes the 737 Max! 🙂

    • RussellH says:

First report I heard, he had resigned.
A couple of hours later they were saying he had been sacked.
      🙂

      • Peter K says:

I’m sure on PM on radio 4 I heard sacked, resigned and “he was pushed” all mentioned tonight.

O/T – BA/Avis car hire – 250 bonus Avios for paying with a BA Amex card

Completed a rental last month. Haven’t received the 250 bonus Avios. Avis rental booked through BA and paid to BA with the BAPP. Should I be chasing BAEC or Amex?

    • Rich says:

Ha I asked the same question a couple of days ago. The response was that it never tracks and you have to ask. I didn’t find out whether or would be BA or Avis.

      • Nick_C says:

I tried Amex. They said BA.

As I booked through BA.com, I’ve raised it with BAEC.

  • Benilyn says:

OT: anyone have luck getting sign up bonus when within 2Y period when signing up from a different home? (Having moved addresses)
