Exclusive HFP reader benefits from the Domes hotel group

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

There has been quite a lot of HFP coverage, much of it in the comments section, about the ‘Domes’ hotel group in recent years.  Domes also generously donated a 2-night stay at their Corfu hotel as a grand prize for the raffle at the Head for Points Winter party.

The coverage was driven by Domes of Elounda in Crete.  Until it was repriced last year, this was exceptional value for money if you had Marriott Bonvoy points and a family, as large villas were available.  Many HFP readers went there and I don’t think any were disappointed.

Domes hotel group special offer

There are actually four hotels in the group, all part of Marriott.  Elounda is not typical, as two of the others are adults-only:

Domes of Elounda in Crete, Autograph Collection (the two pictures below are Elounda)

Domes Noruz Chania, Autograph Collection (adults only)

Domes Zeen, a Luxury Collection Resort, Chania (ex Casa Cook Chania – conversion by April 2020)

Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu (adults only, third photo down)

Domes has offered exclusive benefits for any Head for Points reader who books via our booking partner Emyr Thomas during February.

Domes hotels group special offer

On top of the standard added benefits that Emyr can get you as a preferred partner with Marriott’s luxury brands, you will also receive:

One head & shoulder massage / per booking / per stay

One complimentary 3 course lunch / per booking / per stay

You need to book for a minimum of five nights and can stay at any point in the 2020 season.

If any of these resorts are of interest, please email Emyr via the form on this page of HFP and he can send you a quote for your dates.

    @Shoestring
When I try to use the National status match link, it tells me the offer has expired but this doesn’t seem to be consistent with the dates. Any thoughts? Email them?

win some, lose some, if the offer got too popular/ abused they might have pulled it, I should email & show you are a genuine Amex cardholder, eg photo of your card, name but numbers obscured

    Very OT:
Anyone ever rented a car in Tasmania? Looking at a four day rental in March. Do I need to rent an SUV? Any tips for getting a cheaper rate? Beat I’ve found for a good sized ute is £153 for a Ford Ranger Wildtrak with Europcar.

    • Shoestring says:

did you go through Charlieface’s Hertz guide plus codes see comments
      https://headforpoints.com/2019/04/23/review-hertz-gold-plus-rewards/

      • Harry T says:

Thanks, will look at that again.

        • E says:

Yes, we did this about a year ago. We did hire an SUV but that was because we were circling up to Pumphouse Point at a time of year that snow was possible. We rented from Hertz but can’t remember how much it cost us.

      • Charlieface says:

Must say, most of the codes I use only work well in Europe. North and Latin America and Asia/Pacific are each a different game. You must look at who partners with the big rental companies down there and compare each one. And also check the local country site for any current offers. Which is time consuming, but pays off usually.

    • Harry T says:

Checked the Aussie site and put in my CDP but still not great prices with Hertz. Europcar seem to have some more fun SUVs too.

Thanks, will check out Autoslash. Not heard of them.

    • Lady London says:

I mentioned yesterday people are using autoslash for this and to check the .com.au site if you haven’t already. Not sure why that apparently got deleted. There appear to have been some strange comment deletions of late.

  • Spaghetti Town says:

OT: is this possible? amex 5% off LNER

Buying a season ticket for another operator through LNER.

  • Boi says:

Which of the “domes” would you recommend for a romantic weekend away? Also would they still earn points if booked via Rob?

Alternatively any other hotel recommendation for weekend away in April outside uk?

    • C77 says:

My experience is that Domes are a seasonal product. Generally May – September from the ones I’ve stayed at (Elounda and Miramare).
You might struggle finding one open in April.

    • Dr Doo says:

Don’t go until at least may as that’s when it gets warmer

  • Harry T says:

Can anyone confirm if the spend £300 get 3000 Avios offer is cumulative on the BA cards?

  • Stella64 says:

O/T – I assume the benefit of using Amex Plat car hire insurance in the US with Hertz is the free additional liability coverage? I keep reading I need to decline CDW – is this true? Has anyone done it here? Or do I just need to decline the additional insurance that you pay extra for at the desk. Thanks.

  • SteveD says:

Can I ask a rather delicate question re Domes Crete hotels…what’s the plumbing situation? Will it cope with paper? Advice seems to be things vary by standard of accommodation. Wondered if anyone has any first hand (sorry!) experience.
